A pesquisa foi desenvolvida no &#226;mbito de duas escolas p&#250;blicas estaduais no Rio de Janeiro, onde alunos elaboraram seus portf&#243;lios de avalia&#231;&#227;o a partir de atividades pedag&#243;gicas diversas. Assumidos o vi&#233;s metodol&#243;gico da pesquisa-a&#231;&#227;o e uma abordagem qualitativa na an&#225;lise dos dados, concluiu-se que, embora a marca da avalia&#231;&#227;o tradicional tenha sido ainda encontrada nos discursos dos alunos, n&#227;o h&#225; como negar que eles est&#227;o permeados pela concep&#231;&#227;o da avalia&#231;&#227;o integrada ao ensino-aprendizagem. A utiliza&#231;&#227;o do portf&#243;lio como instrumento de avalia&#231;&#227;o ainda &#233; considerada uma novidade pedag&#243;gica, mas pode e deve ser empregado como instrumento de avalia&#231;&#227;o no ensino de Ci&#234;ncias, pois se mostrou poss&#237;vel e bem-sucedido quanto &#224; sua implementa&#231;&#227;o]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Este estudio tiene el objeto de presentar el portafolio como un instrumento viable para integrar evaluaci&#243;n y aprendizaje en la ense&#241;anza de Ciencias. La investigaci&#243;n se desarroll&#243; en el &#225;mbito de dos escuelas p&#250;blicas estaduales en Rio de Janeiro, donde los alumnos elaboraron sus portafolios de evaluaci&#243;n a partir de actividades pedag&#243;gicas diversas. Asumidos el sesgo metodol&#243;gico de la investigaci&#243;n-acci&#243;n y un abordaje cualitativo en el an&#225;lisis de los datos, se concluy&#243; que, aunque la marca de la evaluaci&#243;n tradicional todav&#237;a es encontrada en los discursos de los alumnos, no hay c&#243;mo negar que ellos est&#225;n permeados por la concepci&#243;n de la evaluaci&#243;n integrada a la ense&#241;anza-aprendizaje. La utilizaci&#243;n del portafolio como instrumento de evaluaci&#243;n todav&#237;a es considerada como una novedad pedag&#243;gica, pero puede y debe utilizarse como un instrumento de evaluaci&#243;n en la ense&#241;anza de Ciencias, ya que su implementaci&#243;n se mostr&#243; posible y exitosa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This study aims to present the portfolio as a viable tool to integrate learning and assessment in science education. The study was developed within two public state schools in Rio de Janeiro, where students prepared their assessment portfolios from various educational activities. Given the methodological bias of action research and a qualitative approach to the data analysis, it was concluded that, although the mark of traditional assessment was still found in the students' discourses, there is no denying that they are permeated by the concept of assessment as an integral part of teaching and learning. The use of the portfolio as an assessment tool is still considered an educational novelty, but can and should be employed as an assessment tool in science education, as its implementation proved to be both possible and successful.]]></p></abstract>
