As informações sobre os estudantes foram disponibilizadas pelo sistema de acompanhamento estudantil da FURG, formando assim uma coorte de estudantes ingressantes em 2013 e identificados semestralmente até 2016. A metodologia utilizada teve como base o método Propensity Score Matching com diferentes estimadores. Após a composição dos grupos de comparação, os resultados indicaram que os estudantes universitários beneficiados pelo Pnaes na FURG tiveram desempenho acadêmico até 21% superior ao dos não beneficiados pelo programa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El presente estudio tiene por objetivo evaluar el efecto del Programa Nacional de Assistência Estudantil [Programa Nacional de Asistencia Estudiantil] (Pnaes) sobre el desempeño de los estudiantes beneficiarios en la Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG). Las informaciones sobre los estudiantes se pusieron a disposición por el sistema de acompañamiento estudiantil de la FURG, formando una cohorte de estudiantes que ingresaron en 2013 e identificados semestralmente hasta 2016. La metodología utilizada tuvo como base el método Propensity Score Matching con diferentes estimadores. Después de la composición de los grupos de comparación, los resultados indicaron que los estudiantes universitarios beneficiados por el Pnaes en la FURG tuvieron un desempeño académico hasta un 21% superior al de los no beneficiados por el programa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The present study aims to evaluate the effect of the Programa Nacional de Assistência Estudantil [National Student Assistance Program] (PNAES) on the academic performance of beneficiary students at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG). Information about the students was made available through the FURG student monitoring system, leading to the creation of a cohort of incoming students in 2013, who were monitored every semester until 2016. The methodology used was based on the Propensity Score Matching method with different estimators. After the comparison groups were created, the results indicated that the academic performance of university students who benefited from PNAES at FURG was 21% higher than those who did not benefit from the program.]]></p></abstract>
