Todavia, a desigualdade salarial entre homens e mulheres persiste. Este artigo apresenta uma sistematização das proposições teóricas e pesquisas empíricas sobre as trajetórias do hiato salarial de gênero. O objetivo é identificar os mecanismos causais explicativos do hiato salarial de gênero apresentados na literatura, a fim de melhor compreender os impactos limitados das políticas de igualdade salarial entre homens e mulheres no país e os motivos que dificultam a eliminação ou atenuação desses fatores causais.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Wage discrimination based on the gender of the worker has been forbidden in Brazil for almost eighty years. Nevertheless, wage inequality between men and women persists. This paper presents a systematization of theoretical propositions and empirical research on the trajectories of the gender wage gap. The objective is to identify the causal mechanisms explaining the gender pay gap presented in the literature, in order to better understand the limited impacts of gender pay equity policies in the country and the reasons that hinder the elimination or mitigation of these causal factors.]]></p></abstract>

Sin embargo, la desigualdad salarial entre hombres y mujeres persiste. Este trabajo presenta una sistematización de las propuestas teóricas y de las investigaciones empíricas sobre las trayectorias de la brecha salarial de género. El objetivo es identificar los mecanismos causales que explican las diferencias salariales entre hombres y mujeres que se presentan en la literatura, con el fin de comprender mejor los limitados impactos de las políticas de igualdad salarial entre hombres y mujeres en el país y las razones que dificultan la eliminación o mitigación de estos factores causales.]]></p></abstract>
