Diversos factores explican la importancia asignada a esta funci&#243;n, destac&#225;ndose: mayores expectativas de las familias sobre la educaci&#243;n; demandas de rendici&#243;n de cuentas por los resultados educativos; nuevas tendencias en la provisi&#243;n de servicios; y la evidencia de investigaciones sobre la influencia que ejerce la calidad de los procesos de direcci&#243;n y liderazgo en la efectividad escolar. La Organizaci&#243;n para la Cooperaci&#243;n y el Desarrollo Econ&#243;mico (OCDE) destaca la importancia del liderazgo educativo, analizando su estado actual y tendencias en pa&#237;ses miembros, e identificando factores clave para su desarrollo. El art&#237;culo compara las pol&#237;ticas m&#225;s recientemente aplicadas en Chile en este &#225;mbito, contrast&#225;ndolas con experiencias de los pa&#237;ses OCDE, en funci&#243;n de lo cual se sugieren propuestas para un dise&#241;o de pol&#237;tica p&#250;blica sustentable en el marco se&#241;alado.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Na &#250;ltima d&#233;cada, para muitos pa&#237;ses a gest&#227;o escolar e a lideran&#231;a educacional tornaram-se prioridade para as pol&#237;ticas p&#250;blicas. V&#225;rios fatores explicam a import&#226;ncia atribu&#237;da a esta fun&#231;&#227;o, destacando as expectativas mais elevadas das fam&#237;lias, exig&#234;ncias de responsabiliza&#231;&#227;o por resultados educacionais, novas tend&#234;ncias na presta&#231;&#227;o de servi&#231;os e evid&#234;ncias de pesquisas sobre a influ&#234;ncia da qualidade dos processos de gest&#227;o e lideran&#231;a na efic&#225;cia da escola. A Organiza&#231;&#227;o para a Coopera&#231;&#227;o e Desenvolvimento Econ&#244;mico (OCDE) destaca a import&#226;ncia da lideran&#231;a educacional, analisando a situa&#231;&#227;o atual e as tend&#234;ncias nos pa&#237;ses membros, e identificando os fatores-chave para o seu desenvolvimento. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In the last decade, for many countries the educational leadership and management have become a priority for public policy. Several factors explain the importance assigned to this function, highlighting: higher expectations of families; demands for accountability of educational outcomes; new trends in the provision of services; and evidence of research on the influence of the quality of processes&#8217; management and leadership on school effectiveness. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) highlights the importance of educational leadership, analyzing their current status and trends in member countries, and identifying key factors for its development. The article compares the policies most recently applied in Chile in this area, contrasting experiences of OECD countries. From there, proposals for a sustainable public policy design in the aforementioned framework are suggested.]]></p></abstract>
