As pesquisas e ensaios foram identificados em várias bases de dados e em busca manual, com foco na Educação Básica, no período de 2016 em diante. Uma vez selecionados e analisados, fundamentaram este texto. O princípio orientador é o direito humano à Educação, pautado pela sua universalidade e igualdade. Com a metáfora da cebola, os resultados formam um percurso do contexto até aos grupos de colegas nas escolas. A proposta é a de uma visão alternativa à do insumo-produto, capaz, segundo a expectativa, de captar mais a complexidade da Educação. Seguem-se a exposição e análise das investigações, privilegiando-se, sempre que adequado, os seus efeitos no êxito do estudante.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper reworks and updates a previous article published by this Journal. It aims to capture the complexity of educational systems and their components. We selected significant research articles and essays from data bases and individual academic periodicals, focusing on Basic Education, published mostly since 2016, for selection and analysis. The guiding principle is the universal and democratic right to Education. Results are organized on the basis of the onion metaphor, starting from the context and reaching the peer groups, in the heart. This proposal is an alternative to the input-output model, aiming to capture complexities in education more accurately. Discussion of research results prioritizes impacts on student success when this focus is adequate.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este trabajo reformula y actualiza un artículo anterior, publicado por esta Revista, que busca capturar la complejidad de los sistemas educativos en sus diversos componentes. La investigación y los ensayos se identificaron en varias bases de datos y en búsqueda manual, con un enfoque en Educación Básica, a partir de 2016. Una vez seleccionados y analizados, respaldaron este texto. El principio rector es el derecho humano a la Educación, guiado por su universalidad e igualdad. Con la metáfora de la cebolla, los resultados forman un camino desde el contexto hasta los grupos de colegas en las escuelas. La propuesta es la de una visión alternativa al insumo-producto, capaz, de acuerdo con las expectativas, de capturar mejor la complejidad de la educación. A continuación se presentan y analizan las investigaciones, dando preferencia, cuando sea apropiado, a sus efectos sobre el éxito del estudiante.]]></p></abstract>
