Analisa como o campo de estudos da Educação vem construindo teórica e conceitualmente o tema da juventude como objeto de investigação, seus modos de aproximação com o fenômeno em questão, seus principais recortes e, dentro do possível, suas relações com os processos históricos que permitem a visibilidade desse segmento na sociedade brasileira nos últimos anos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The examination of dissertations and theses defended in the Post Graduate Programs in Education from 1980 to 1995 raises issues that are discussed in the light of production of knowledge regarding youth themes. An analysis is made as to how the field of studies in Education has been theoretically and conceptually constructing the youth theme as an object of investigation. It also analyzes its methods in approaching the issue at hand, its principal thematic cuts and, wherever, possible, its relation with historic processes in recent years that give visibility to this segment of Brazilian society.]]></p></abstract>
