Ele explica os conteúdos do quinto volume de Classes, códigos e poder, esclarecendo também conceitos tais como os de alfabetismo segmentário, de discurso vertical e horizontal. Ao tratar deste último, pode-se observar claramente uma reorientação de sua teoria em direção a uma perspectiva mais comunicativa. Ao término da entrevista, ele reconhece paralelismos entre seu mais recente livro e Jürgen Habermas. Ele comenta ainda o conceito de ação pedagógica ideal.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[In this interview, Basil Bernstein expounds on his new contributions elaborated after having received criticism on his Code theory. He explains the contents of the fifth volume, Class, codes and control and also explains concepts such as segmented illiteracy as well as vertical and horizontal discourse. A clear reordering of his theory towards a more communicative perspective is observed when he refers to the latter. At the end of the interview, he recognizes parallelism between his recent book and Jürgen Habermas. He a/so comments the concept of ideal pedagogical action.]]></p></abstract>
