<self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1413-65382014000200004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1413-65382014000200004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1413-65382014000200004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Esta pesquisa objetivou explorar as concepções de professores do Ensino Fundamental da rede pública de Vitória-ES sobre altas habilidades/superdotação (AH/SD), verificando as relações entre essas concepções e a prática docente dos participantes, avaliando também a concepção dos mesmos quanto à adequação de sua formação profissional para lidar com pessoas com AH/SD e investigando as principais estratégias de ensino e aprendizagem utilizadas pelos mesmos. Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se um roteiro de entrevista contendo cinco perguntas sobre alguns dados do participante, uma questão de evocação de palavras e quatro sobre a conceituação de AH/SD para os professores e sobre sua formação e prática profissional. Além disso, foram contadas quatro histórias sobre mitos relativos às AH/SD para eles julgarem e emitirem suas opiniões. A análise dos dados pareceu indicar que os participantes possuem uma concepção de que o aluno superdotado tem necessidades educativas específicas e que os professores não tiveram uma formação adequada para lidar com as pessoas com AH/SD. No que se refere as duas primeiras histórias, verificou-se que a maioria dos docentes não possue sua prática diária perpassada por tais mitos; quanto à terceira, 95% dos docentes concordaram que o aluno com AH/SD necessita ter atendimento especial, e quanto a quarta, enquanto uns participantes acreditavam que as pessoas com AH/SD sofrem isolamento, outros acreditavam que eles convivem muito bem com seus colegas. Espera-se que esta pesquisa possa contribuir para o avanço da discussão acerca dessa temática, oferecendo subsídios teóricos e metodológicos para embasar o trabalho docente na área.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This study aimed to explore the concepts of elementary school teachers from the Vitória-ES public school system regarding high abilities/giftedness (HA/GD), in order to investigate the relationship between the participants’ conceptions and teaching practices. We also evaluated their conception about the appropriateness of their training to deal with people with HA/GD and investigated the main teaching and learning strategies used by these students. For data collection we used an interview script containing five questions about some participant’s data, a question of word retrieval, and four about conceptualization of HA/GD for teachers and about their training and professional practice. Additionally, we asked them to judge and issue their opinions on four stories we told them about myths regarding HA/GD. The analysis of the data seemed to indicate that participants understand that gifted students have special needs and that teachers have not had adequate training to deal with people with HA/GD. As regards the first two stories, it was found that such myths do not seem to pervade the daily practice of the majority of teachers. As for the third, 95% of teachers agree that students with HA/GD need special services, and regarding the fourth, while some participants believed that people with HA/GD suffer isolation, others believed that they get along well with their peers. We hope that this study will contribute to advance the discussion of this theme offering theoretical and methodological support for teaching in this area.]]></p></abstract>
