Centrado nas evocações de 1.100 estudantes do ensino médio de dez escolas do município de São Paulo, coletadas a partir de um questionário mais amplo, os resultados obtidos demonstraram que os estereótipos de gênero não só são criados, como também são mantidos por diversos grupos e organizações sociais que podem não visibilizar a necessária problematização de modo a ampliar a compreensão sobre as desigualdades no âmbito das trajetórias escolares e profissionais. Nesse sentido, reconhecer a escola como um importante agente socializador pode contribuir para a desconstrução de estereótipos que podem afetar a escolha de carreiras profissionais.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This article explores how young people perceive science as a profession, focusing on gender as an analytical category. The researchers distributed a questionnaire to 1,100 high school students of 10 different schools in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, analyzed the responses, and found that gender stereotypes are both created and reinforced by various groups and social organizations. This lack of awareness can prevent individuals from understanding the inequalities in their school and professional paths. Recognizing the role of schools in shaping students' perceptions can help them make informed career choices.]]></p></abstract>
