Argumentamos, baseados em contribuições conceituais de Bruno Latour, que investigações dedicadas a rastrear associações entre humanos e não humanos podem se beneficiar do seu emprego, uma vez que, segundo essa abordagem sociológica, podemos tomar os objetos como atores dinâmicos nas práticas de educação matemática. Concentramo-nos aqui em quatro conceitos básicos: redes sociotécnicas, caraterização da atuação dos atores (mediadores e intermediários) e agência (agency), ilustrando sua mobilização por meio da análise de uma aula fictícia de Matemática. Buscamos, assim, contribuir com a divulgação dessa perspectiva teórica na comunidade científica de educadores matemáticos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: We investigate how actor-network theory can make a significant theoretical and methodological contribution to mathematics education research. Based on Bruno Latour's conceptual contributions, we contend that this sociological approach is useful for studying the relationship between human and non-human associations because it allows us to see objects as dynamic actors in mathematics education practices. We examine a hypothetical mathematics class to demonstrate the application of four concepts: agency, mediator and intermediary actions, sociotechnical networks, and characterization. Our goal is to help spread the theoretical perspective among scientific mathematics educators.]]></p></abstract>
