A amostra foi composta por 806 sujeitos e as variáveis utilizadas para a análise fatorial foram obtidas dos vinte itens da escala. Os resultados mostraram que o coeficiente de confiabilidade da escala indica uma consistência interna quase perfeita. A medida de adequação da amostra Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin foi considerada altamente satisfatória. O Teste de Esfericidade de Bartlet demonstra que a análise fatorial é adequada. A escala apresentou duas dimensões fatoriais que respondem por 46,1% da variância total presente no conjunto de variáveis manifestas. Os resultados das análises atestam validade e confiabilidade do instrumento para medir as atitudes em relação à leitura.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This study aimed to adapt and validate a Scale of Attitudes Towards Reading (SATR). We worked with a sample of 806 subjects and the statistical method of factor analysis, with the twenty items of the scale being considered variables. The results showed that the scale has a high reliability coefficient, indicating almost perfect internal consistency. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure of sampling adequacy was highly satisfactory. The Bartlet sphericity test demonstrated that the factor analysis was appropriate. The scale presented two-factor dimensions that accounted for 46.1% of the total variance in the set of manifest variables. The results of the analyses attest to the validity and reliability of this tool for measuring attitudes toward reading.]]></p></abstract>
