Para tal, as macrotendências conservacionista, pragmática e crítica, e as correntes pós-crítica e decolonial foram analisadas epistemologicamente, a partir das dimensões objetiva, subjetiva e intersubjetiva. Resultados demonstram que diferentes correntes se remetem a diferentes dimensões do pensamento, com deslocamentos ao longo do tempo. Identificam, também, uma virada epistêmica a partir da emergência das correntes pós-crítica e decolonial, visto que afirmam a dimensão epistêmica e ontológica como lugares de disputa. Por fim, resgatam queixas antigas quanto à necessidade do campo se fortalecer filosoficamente, visto que transformações necessárias não serão alcançadas se desafios epistemológicos e ontológicos não forem também enfrentados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This paper aims to identify the itineraries of environmental education through the different dimensions of thought over time in Brazil. Conservationist, pragmatic, critical macro-trends, and post-critical and decolonial currents were epistemologically analyzed against the objective, subjective, and intersubjective dimensions. Results show that different currents refer to varying scales of thought, with shifts over time. They also show an epistemic turn resulting from the emergence of post-critical and decolonial currents, as they affirm epistemic and ontological dimensions as sites of contestation. Finally, they revisit old claims about the need for the field to strengthen itself philosophically, since necessary transformations will not be achieved if epistemological and ontological challenges are not confronted.]]></p></abstract>
