A perspectiva intercultural emerge como uma abordagem apontada para superar esse cientificismo e promover uma educação pautada no respeito à diversidade cultural. Neste estudo avaliamos como a poesia popular nordestina pode contribuir para um ensino de Biologia alinhado com o diálogo intercultural. Para tanto, foi utilizado um corpus composto por 30 poesias de Patativa do Assaré, submetidas a uma Análise Textual Discursiva. Os resultados evidenciam que as poesias do autor abrigam críticas às injustiças sociais enfrentadas pelo povo nordestino, além de expressar conhecimentos sobre sua cultura, notadamente em relação à biodiversidade. Em nossa análise, esses conhecimentos possuem o potencial de integrar a Biologia a outras formas de saber, promovendo a formação de alunos e professores que reconheçam, valorizem e respeitem as diferenças culturais.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This study explores how popular poetry from the Northeast region of Brazil can enhance biology education by promoting intercultural communication. We used a textual-discursive approach to analyze a collection of thirty poems by Patativa do Assaré. Pedagogical practices in Biology Education often lack diversification, with a focus on scientific content at the expense of other knowledge, such as that produced in the Northeast of Brazil. The intercultural worldview emerges as an effective strategy to go beyond this narrow focus and promote an educational framework that values cultural diversity. Our research shows that the poems provide valuable insights into the culture of the Brazilian Northeast, concerning biodiversity, and underscore the socioeconomic inequalities faced by its residents. We conclude that this knowledge can assist teachers and students in recognizing and embracing cultural differences while integrating biology with other forms of knowledge.]]></p></abstract>
