<self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1517-97022023000100314&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1517-97022023000100314&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1517-97022023000100314&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Esta pesquisa objetivou avaliar a implementação de uma iniciativa de extensão universitária, envolvendo tecnologias digitais, voltada à sensibilização de estudantes dos anos finais do ensino fundamental para o uso racional de energia e a proteção climática, realizada no contexto da pandemia de Covid-19. Para tanto, desenvolveu-se um minicurso, ministrado de forma remota, do qual participaram vinte alunos, com idade entre 10 e 13 anos, matriculados em escolas da rede estadual de Santa Catarina, localizadas na cidade de Araranguá. Para esse minicurso, elaboraram-se materiais didáticos, cujos temas foram os seguintes: a) fontes de energia e emissões, b) energia para o transporte e emissões e c) eficiência energética e proteção climática. A partir dos dados coletados, verificou-se que a abordagem de temas relacionados à eficiência energética e à proteção climática pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento de percepções voltadas à redução de impactos sobre o meio ambiente. Identificou-se também a importância desses temas serem abordados de forma contextualizada, como proposto no minicurso, tanto por facilitar a aprendizagem dos estudantes quanto por favorecer que eles levem para suas famílias saberes importantes sobre o papel de cada um na proteção ambiental. Pode-se concluir, portanto, que a extensão universitária se mostra como uma oportunidade para aproximar escolas e academia na construção de metodologias que levem ao ensino e ao aprendizado de diferentes assuntos e, quiçá, à adoção de novos hábitos, especialmente no caso da educação ambiental. Ademais, concluiu-se que as tecnologias digitais são ferramentas potentes na realização de iniciativas de extensão em contextos pandêmicos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This research aimed to evaluate the implementation of a university outreach initiative involving digital technologies toward elementary and middle-school students&#8217; awareness of the rational use of energy and climate protection conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, we developed a short course, taught remotely, with twenty students from ten to thirteen years old enrolled in schools from the state system of Santa Catarina in the city of Araranguá. For this course, we developed didactic materials about the following themes: a) energy sources and emissions, b) transport energy and emissions, and c) energy efficiency and climate protection. From the data collected, we could see that the approach to energy efficiency and climate protection themes can contribute to developing perceptions about reducing environmental impacts. We have also identified the importance of contextually approaching these themes, as proposed by the course, to facilitate students&#8217; learning and their transmission of necessary knowledge to their families regarding each person&#8217;s role in environmental protection. Hence, we can conclude that university outreach is an opportunity to approximate schools from the academy in building methodologies that lead to the teaching and learning of different topics and, perhaps, the adoption of new habits, mainly in the case of environmental education. Furthermore, we concluded that digital technologies are powerful tools for implementing outreach initiatives in pandemic contexts.]]></p></abstract>
