A partir dos dados fornecidos pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP), lançou-se mão da estatística descritiva considerando as variáveis dependência administrativa escolar, sexo, raça, renda, escolaridade dos pais e notas, a fim de relacioná-las ao desempenho desses estudantes conforme o perfil socioeconômico. Ao todo, contabilizaram-se as notas de 91.540 alunos de escolas particulares, federais, estaduais, municipais e das unidades do Colégio Tiradentes da Polícia Militar (CTPM). Os dados apontaram que, a maioria dos estudantes que realizaram o ENEM 2019 e que concluíram o ensino médio nesse mesmo ano estava matriculada nas escolas estaduais, que foram as instituições que apresentaram as menores médias em todas as áreas de conhecimento da prova. A média das notas das escolas particulares, por sua vez, foi superior à de todas as outras instituições em todas as áreas e seguiu o padrão nacional. A investigação evidencia como as variações socioeconômicas contribuem para um quadro mais amplo por meio do qual as desigualdades constituem barreiras para a melhoria do desempenho escolar e para a democratização do ensino no Brasil. O tipo de dependência administrativa escolar foi a variável mais influente entre as consideradas neste trabalho.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This study aim the general performance of students from high school in 2019 from schools in Minas Gerais in the National High School Exam, the ENEM. Based on data provided by the Anísio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (INEP), descriptive statistics were used, considering the variables school administrative dependency, gender, race, income, parents&#8217; education and grades, in order to relate to the performance of these students according to their socioeconomic profile. Altogether, the scores of 91,540 students from private, federal, state and municipal schools and units of Colégio Tiradentes of the Military Police (CTPM) were recorded. The data showed that the majority of students who took the ENEM 2019 and who completed high school that same year were enrolled in state schools, which were the institutions that presented the lowest averages in all areas of knowledge of the test. The average grade of private schools, in turn, was higher than that of all other institutions in all areas and followed the national standard. The investigation shows how socioeconomic variations contribute to a broader picture through which inequalities are barriers to improving school performance and to the democratization of education in Brazil. The type of school administrative dependency was the most influential variable among those considered in this work.]]></p></abstract>
