Uma an&#225;lise do panorama atual da educa&#231;&#227;o superior brasileira mostra que ainda estamos distantes de consolidar o acesso aos cursos e a necess&#225;ria qualidade da produ&#231;&#227;o de conhecimento e da forma&#231;&#227;o profissional. As Institui&#231;&#245;es de educa&#231;&#227;o superior lidam com desafios como o alto &#237;ndice de evas&#227;o e um processo de ensino-aprendizagem cristalizado em pr&#225;ticas que se reproduzem desconsiderando os avan&#231;os tecnol&#243;gicos. A forma&#231;&#227;o de professores para a educa&#231;&#227;o superior pode ser um fator estrat&#233;gico para construir a educa&#231;&#227;o com qualidade. Tendo esse pressuposto, foi realizada uma pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa, cujo objetivo era conhecer os desafios e as expectativas de professores iniciantes da educa&#231;&#227;o superior em duas institui&#231;&#245;es, uma p&#250;blica e uma comunit&#225;ria. Fizeram parte da metodologia: a revis&#227;o bibliogr&#225;fica, a an&#225;lise documental, a pesquisa telematizada (MORESI, 2003) e o estudo de campo com entrevistas respondidas por professores com at&#233; tr&#234;s anos de doc&#234;ncia. A an&#225;lise de conte&#250;do (FRANCO, 2008) das respostas indicou que a maioria dos entrevistados escolheu a profiss&#227;o motivada pelo prazer e pelo exemplo; que suas expectativas t&#234;m como foco a realiza&#231;&#227;o profissional e que os docentes percebem a necessidade de melhorar sua forma&#231;&#227;o pedag&#243;gica. Nas considera&#231;&#245;es finais, s&#227;o trazidos elementos para respaldar propostas de programas para o desenvolvimento profissional do docente da educa&#231;&#227;o superior. ]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Brazil faces historical and complex problems such as economic and social inequality; crime; and corruption, among others. It is a consensus that in order to solve these problems, the quality of education in all levels must be achieved. An analysis of the current panorama of Brazilian higher education shows that we are still far from consolidating access to the graduate courses; and the necessary quality of knowledge production and vocational training. Higher Education Institutions deal with challenges such as the high rate of evasion and a teaching-learning process crystallized in practices that reproduce without considering the technological advances. Teacher education for higher education can be a strategic factor to build quality education. With this assumption, a research with a qualitative approach was carried out, whose objective was to know the challenges and the expectations of higher education beginning teachers in two institutions, one public and one community. The bibliographical review, the documentary analysis, the telematized research (MORESI, 2003) and the field study with interviews answered by teachers with up to three years of teaching were part of the methodology. The content analysis (FRANCO, 2008) of the answers indicated that, most of the interviewees, chose the profession motivated by pleasure and by example; that their expectations are focused on professional achievement and that they perceive the need to improve their pedagogical training. In the final considerations, elements are brought to support proposals for programs for the professional development of higher education teachers. ]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  El Brasil enfrenta problemas hist&#243;ricos y complejos como la desigualdad econ&#243;mica y social; La delincuencia; Y la corrupci&#243;n, entre otros. Es consenso que para resolver estos problemas, la calidad de la educaci&#243;n, en todos los grados de ense&#241;anza, necesita ser alcanzada. Un an&#225;lisis del panorama actual de la educaci&#243;n superior brasile&#241;a muestra que a&#250;n estamos lejos de consolidar el acceso a los cursos; Y la necesaria calidad de la producci&#243;n de conocimiento y de la formaci&#243;n profesional. Las Instituciones de Educaci&#243;n Superior tratan con desaf&#237;os como el alto &#237;ndice de evasi&#243;n y un proceso de ense&#241;anza-aprendizaje cristalizado en pr&#225;cticas que se reproducen desconsiderando los avances tecnol&#243;gicos. La formaci&#243;n de profesores para la educaci&#243;n superior puede ser un factor estrat&#233;gico para construir la educaci&#243;n con calidad. Con ese presupuesto, se realiz&#243; una investigaci&#243;n con enfoque cualitativo, cuyo objetivo era conocer los desaf&#237;os y las expectativas de profesores iniciantes de la educaci&#243;n superior en dos instituciones, una p&#250;blica y una comunitaria. Como parte de la metodolog&#237;a se realiz&#243;: la revisi&#243;n bibliogr&#225;fica, el an&#225;lisis documental, la investigaci&#243;n telematizada (MORESI, 2003) y el estudio de campo con entrevistas respondidas por profesores con hasta tres a&#241;os de docencia. El an&#225;lisis de contenido (FRANCO, 2008) de las respuestas indic&#243; que, la mayor&#237;a de los entrevistados, escogi&#243; la profesi&#243;n motivada por el placer y el ejemplo; Que sus expectativas tienen como foco la realizaci&#243;n profesional y que perciben la necesidad de mejorar su formaci&#243;n pedag&#243;gica. En las consideraciones finales, se traen elementos para respaldar propuestas de programas para el desarrollo profesional del docente de la educaci&#243;n superior. ]]></p></abstract>
