A ideia central é comparar a importância de variáveis individuais, de infraestrutura escolar e indicadores educacionais para alunos de desempenho alto, médio e baixo de escolas públicas e privadas da Região Sudeste do Brasil. Modelos de regressão quantílica são apropriados para este propósito. Os resultados mostram que as diferenças já conhecidas para o ensino fundamental são potencializadas ao final do ensino médio, com grande impacto socioeconômico, especialmente para alunos de escolas públicas com baixo desempenho. Políticas públicas deveriam ser elaboradas com foco em um sistema educacional que promova equidade, infraestrutura e professores qualificados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article proposes a study on the performance of students from public and private schools in the Southeast region of Brazil, who applied to ENEM 2017. The main idea is to compare the importance of individual variables, school infrastructure and educational indicators for high, medium and low performance students from public and private schools in the Southeast Region of Brazil. Quantile regression models are appropriate for this purpose. The results show that the known differences for elementary education are enhanced at the end of high school, with a great socioeconomic impact, especially for low-performing public school students. Public policies should be designed with a focus on an educational system that promotes equity, infrastructure and qualified teachers.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo propone un estudio sobre el desempeño de estudiantes de escuelas públicas y privadas de la región sureste de Brasil, que aplicaron a ENEM 2017. La idea central es comparar la importancia de las variables individuales, la infraestructura escolar y los indicadores educativos para alumnos de rendimiento alto, medio y bajo de escuelas públicas y privadas de la Región Sudeste de Brasil. Los modelos de regresión cuantílica son apropiados para este propósito. Los resultados muestran que las diferencias conocidas para la educación primaria se potencian al final de la escuela secundaria con un gran impacto socioeconómico para los estudiantes de escuelas públicas de bajo rendimiento. Las políticas públicas deben diseñarse con enfoque en un sistema educativo que promueva la equidad, la infraestructura y docentes calificados.]]></p></abstract>
