Na primeira, esboçamos uma breve análise do contexto latino-americano que favorece a emergência do trabalho de Paulo Freire ao mesmo tempo em que assegura sua difusão e aceitação na América Latina, iniciado na década de 1960. Nossa análise se esforça para mostrar os obstáculos político- culturais próprios ao Continente africano que inviabilizam a adesão maciça dos africanos ao pensamento e prática freireanos. Na segunda parte, tecemos algumas considerações críticas à obra educativa de Freire e, em uma atitude propositiva, apresentamos a Pedagogia do Texto como uma ruptura - na continuidade - com respeito a essa mesma obra.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The present paper is structured in two parts. In the first part, we outline a brief analysis of the Latin-American context favourable to the emergence, diffusion and acceptance of Paulo Freire’s work in the region, which started in the decade of 1960. Our analysis attempts to show the political and cultural obstacles specific to the African continent that prevent African’s mass adhesion to Freirean thought and practice. In the second part, we make some critical remarks on Freire’s educational work and, in a constructive spirit, we present ‘Pedagogy of the Text’ as a rupture - in continuity - regarding that work.]]></p></abstract>
