De um lado, a ado&#231;&#227;o do m&#233;todo intuitivo significa o marco da renova&#231;&#227;o pedag&#243;gica do per&#237;odo e de outra parte, o m&#233;todo anal&#237;tico &#233; igualmente difundido no per&#237;odo, em especial para o ensino da leitura. Analisa-se o manual de ensino Primeiras li&#231;&#245;es de coisas de Calkins, traduzido por Rui Barbosa em 1886 e os artigos publicados na revista A Eschola Publica de 1896 e 1897, assinados por Oscar Thompson e Gomes Cardim. Busca-se responder: Como os saberes geom&#233;tricos se apresentam nas respectivas propostas intuitivas no que diz respeito ao m&#233;todo anal&#237;tico/sint&#233;tico? O estudo conclui que Oscar Thompson adapta e traduz o manual norte americano em que se evid&#234;ncia a presen&#231;a do m&#233;todo anal&#237;tico, Gomes Cardim prop&#245;e li&#231;&#245;es de geometria com o m&#233;todo sint&#233;tico e uma terceira posi&#231;&#227;o de Calkins em seu manual, recomendando e enfatizando processos anal&#237;tico e sint&#233;tico simultaneamente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This research examines educational proposals of geometric knowledges for elementary school in the late nineteenth century. On the one hand, the adoption of the intuitive method means the framework of pedagogical renewal period and on the other hand, the analytical method is also widespread in the period, particularly for the teaching of reading. Analyzes the textbook Primeiras li&#231;&#245;es de coisas of Calkins, translated by Rui Barbosa in 1886 and published in the review A Eschola Publica of 1896 and 1897, signed by Oscar Thompson and Gomes Cardim. The aim is to answer: As the knowledge present in their intuitive motions with respect to the analytic / synthetic method? The study concludes that Oscar Thompson adapts and translates North American textbook that evidence the presence of the analytical method, Gomes Cardim proposed geometry lessons to the synthetic method and the third position Calkins recommending and emphasizing analytical and synthetic processes simultaneously.]]></p></abstract>
