Para tanto, utilizo majoritariamente a sua autobiografia. Essa an&#225;lise tem como demarca&#231;&#227;o inicial a Revolu&#231;&#227;o de 1930, ajuizada pelo jovem Catunda como um marco para a constru&#231;&#227;o de uma na&#231;&#227;o rumo ao progresso, prolongando-se at&#233; 1986, ano da sua morte. Argumento que Catunda buscou semear a alta cultura por meio da educa&#231;&#227;o, mas, ao beber de uma cultura estrangeira, foi estrangeiro em seu pr&#243;prio pa&#237;s.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In this article, without any biographical intent, I do an analysis of some elements that influenced the thinking and actions of Omar Catunda to develop an educational system capable of raising the culture of the Brazilian people. For him the only sure instrument to turn Brazil into a fully independent nation, in that it would achieve material progress and spiritual. For this, I use mostly his autobiography. This analysis has as initial cut the 1930 Revolution, understood by young Catunda as a landmark for the construction of a nation towards progress and continuing until 1986, the year of his death. I argument that Catunda did sought to sow the high culture through education, but while drinking from a foreign culture, was foreign in their own country.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[R&#233;sum&#233; Dans cet article, nous avons aucun pr&#233;texte biographique. Nous faisons une analyse de certains &#233;l&#233;ments qui ont influenc&#233; la pens&#233;e et les actions de Omar Catunda de d&#233;velopper un syst&#232;me &#233;ducatif capable d'&#233;lever la culture du peuple br&#233;silien, vu par lui comme le seul outil fiable pour transformer le Br&#233;sil en une nation enti&#232;rement ind&#233;pendante, avec le progr&#232;s mat&#233;riel et spirituel. A cet effet, nous utilisons principalement son autobiographie.
