Situado na interseção dos Novos Estudos Sociais da Infância com a produção científica da área da Educação da Criança de Zero a Seis Anos, o texto parte da seguinte problematização: Que orientações metodológicas seriam adequadas para permitir que as investigações etnográficas considerem as peculiaridades das infâncias e as relações sociais que se estabelecem nos primeiros anos de vida, em especial em contextos educativos? Para debater esta e outras questões, são revisitados dados de uma pesquisa cujo trabalho de campo foi desenvolvido ao longo de nove meses do ano de 2012, em uma Unidade Municipal de Educação Infantil (UMEI), de Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Participaram do estudo, dezoito crianças de quatro/cinco anos (oito meninas e dez meninos), além de duas professoras. A produção de dados ocorreu por meio de observação participante; de desenhos articulados com a oralidade; de fotografias produzidas pelas crianças, também conjugadas com suas falas e, finalmente, de entrevistas. As análises sugerem que a triangulação, quando associada aos princípios da etnografia, tais como a observação prolongada; a construção de análises holísticas e, ao mesmo tempo focalizadas, associadas à dimensão autocorretiva e reflexiva, possibilita a ampliação da interpretação dos dados e o alargamento da construção de sentidos e de possibilidades para a pesquisa com e sobre crianças e infâncias.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article analyzes the scope and limits of research methodologies and advocates the importance of triangulation in the construction and analysis of data in childhood studies, especially in research with and on children. Situated at the intersection of the New Social Studies of Childhood with scientific production in the field of Early Childhood Education, the text starts from the following problematization: What methodological guidelines would be adequate to allow ethnographic investigations to consider the peculiarities of childhood and the social relationships in the first years of life, especially in educational contexts? To discuss this and other questions, data from a survey whose field work was carried out during nine months of 2012, in a Municipal Early Childhood Education School, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, are reviewed. Eighteen four/five-year-old children (eight girls and ten boys) participated in the study, as well as two teachers. Data production was carried out through participant observation; of drawings articulated with orality; of photographs produced by the children, also combined with their speeches and interviews. The analyzes suggest that triangulation, when associated with ethnographic principles, such as prolonged observation; the construction of holistic analyzes and, at the same time, focused, associated with the self-correcting and reflective dimension, makes it possible to broaden the interpretation of the data and expand the construction of meanings and possibilities for research with and on children and childhood.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo analiza los alcances y límites de las metodologías de investigación y aboga por la importancia de la triangulación en la construcción y análisis de datos en los estudios de infancia, especialmente en la investigación con y sobre los niños. Situado en la intersección de los Nuevos Estudios Sociales de la Infancia con la producción científica en el campo de la Educación Infantil, el texto parte de la siguiente problematización: ¿Qué lineamientos metodológicos serían adecuados para permitir a las investigaciones etnográficas identificar las peculiaridades de la infancia y las relaciones sociales que se establecen en los primeros años de vida, especialmente en contextos educativos? Para discutir esta y otras cuestiones, se revisan los datos de una encuesta cuyo trabajo de campo se realizó durante nueve meses de 2013, en una Unidad Municipal de Educación Infantil (UMEI), en Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Participaron del studio, dieciocho niños de cuatro/cinco años (ocho niñas y diez niños), además de dos maestras. La producción de datos se llevó a cabo a través de la observación participante; de dibujos articulados con la oralidad; de fotografías producidas por los niños, también combinadas con sus discursos y entrevistas. Los análisis sugieren que la triangulación, cuando se asocia con principios etnográficos, como la observación prolongada; la construcción de análisis holísticos y, a la vez, focalizados, asociados a la dimensión autocorrectiva y reflexiva, posibilita ampliar la interpretación de los datos y la construcción de sentidos y posibilidades para la investigación con y sobre los niños y las infancias.]]></p></abstract>
