A investigação, de caráter quantiqualitativa, cuja forma é descritivo-analítica, coletou, organizou e analisou os dados sob a ótica da análise do discurso francesa, segundo Orlandi (1999). A pesquisa empírica foi realizada em duas escolas públicas estaduais de ensino fundamental anos finais de duas cidades de médio porte do interior paulista. Foram quatro as categorias de análise: a violência verbal e física na escola; o desinteresse dos alunos e a indisciplina; situações conflitantes e a relação de poder no espaço escolar; e discursos de educadores sobre práticas e procedimentos na escola. Concluiu-se que existe uma dualidade na dinâmica escolar: quando o educador faz uso de sua autoridade e estabelece uma relação de hierarquia, inevitavelmente acontecem os conflitos e violências; e, quando tenta compreender as diferenças nas situações entre os sujeitos, com tolerância, fortalece as relações e reformula regras comuns para possíveis ajustes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article aimed to understand how the school community &#8211; in general &#8211; and the teachers and the management team &#8211; in particular &#8211; have dealt with issues related to conflicts, incivilities and violence within the school. The investigation, of a quanti-qualitative character whose form is descriptive-analytical, collected, organized and analyzed the data from the perspective of the French Discourse Analysis, according to Orlandi (1999). The empirical research was carried out in two state public schools of Elementary Education Final Years in two medium-sized cities in the interior of São Paulo. There were four categories of analysis: verbal and physical violence at school; students' lack of interest and indiscipline; conflicting situations and the power relationship in the school space; and, educators' speeches about school practices and procedures. It was concluded that there is a duality in the school dynamics: when the educator makes use of his authority and establishes a hierarchical relationship, conflicts and violence inevitably happen; and when trying to understand the differences in the situations between the subjects, with tolerance, strengthens the relationships and reformulates common rules for possible adjustments.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo pretende comprender cómo la comunidad escolar &#8211; en general &#8211; y los maestros y la administración &#8211; en particular &#8211; han tratado cuestiones relativas a conflictos, incivilidad y violencia dentro de la escuela. La investigación, de carácter cuantitativo y cualitativo, cuya forma es descriptivo-analítica, ha recogido, organizado y analizado los datos desde la perspectiva del análisis del discurso francés, según Orlandi (1999). La investigación empírica se realizó en dos escuelas públicas primarias años finales de dos ciudades de tamaño medio de São Paulo. Había cuatro categorías de análisis: la violencia verbal y física en la escuela; desinterés de los estudiantes y la indisciplina; situaciones conflictivas y la relación de poder en el espacio de la escuela; y discursos por los educadores acerca de las prácticas y procedimientos en la escuela. Se concluyó que existe una dualidad en la dinámica escolar: cuando el profesor hace uso de su autoridad y establece una relación de jerarquía, inevitablemente suceden los conflictos y la violencia; y cuando intenta comprender las diferencias en las situaciones entre los sujetos, con tolerancia, fortalece las relaciones y refunde las normas comunes para posibles ajustes.]]></p></abstract>
