Utilizamos o método de história de vida como ponte entre o individual e o social com base em Cipriani (1988) e Paulilo (1999). As narrativas foram construídas por meio da técnica da entrevista de História de vida (Queiroz, 1988). As vozes dos narradores, utilizadas como fontes, demonstraram que os motivos da permanência são oriundos da cooperação e solidariedade entre os colegas, apoio familiar, incentivo de alguns professores, e pela existência material de: transporte, materiais didáticos e auxílio financeiro. Nesse sentido, envolveu as permanências simbólica e material.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper aims to present the reasons for the school permanence of the sertanejos-workers-students who, motivated by their own dreams and determination, remained in the food science course of a vocational high school which is part of the Proeja at Federal Institute of Alagoas (Ifal) &#8211; Piranhas campus. We used the life history method as a bridge between the individual and the social based on Cipriani (1988) and Paulilo (1999). The narratives were built using the technique of the Life history interview, (Queiroz, 1988). The voices of the narrators, used as sources, show us that the reasons for the permanence come from cooperation and solidarity among colleagues, family support, encouragement from some teachers, and from the material existence of: transportation, teaching materials and financial aid. In this sense, their permanence involved both symbolic and material needs.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El artículo tiene como objetivo presentar los motivos de la permanencia escolar de los sertanejos-trabajadores-estudiantes que motivados por el sueño y la determinación se mantuvieron en el Curso Técnico Integrado en Alimentos, dentro del ámbito del Proeja, del Instituto Federal de Alagoas (Ifal) - campus Piranhas. Utilizamos el método de la historia de vida como un puente entre lo individual y lo social con base en Cipriani (1988) y Paulilo (1999). Las narrativas fueron construidas por medio de la técnica de la entrevista de Historia de vida, (Queiroz, 1988). Las voces de los narradores, utilizadas como fuentes mostraron que las razones de la permanencia proviene de la cooperación y la solidaridad entre colegas, el apoyo familiar, el estímulo de algunos maestros, y por la existencia material de: transporte, materiales didácticos y ayuda financiera. En este sentido, involucró permanencias simbólicas y materiales.]]></p></abstract>
