O foco desta pesquisa foi apresentar uma introdução sobre o uso desse dispositivo e seus efeitos para uma criança com diagnóstico de transtorno do espectro autista no ambiente escolar. Seu objetivo foi discutir as potencialidades do DGF e evidenciar, através do uso da matriz de comunicação, a evolução do perfil comunicativo do aluno após os procedimentos de intervenção. O artigo apresenta recorte de uma investigação de doutorado que utilizou como método um delineamento quase experimental do tipo A-B. Os resultados apontaram para o uso exponencial, pelo aluno, da comunicação alternativa como forma de expressar desejos e sentimentos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The speech generator device (SGD) has been presented as a promising tool to favor the communication of people who have complex communication needs. The focus of this research was to present an introduction about the use of this device and its effects for a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, in the school environment. The objective was to discuss its potentialities and demonstrate, through the use of the communication matrix, the evolution of the student's communicative profile after the intervention procedures. The article presents an excerpt from a doctoral research that used a quasi-experimental A-B design as a method. The results pointed to the exponential use, by the student, of alternative communication as a way of expressing desires and feelings.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El dispositivo generador de voz (SGD, por sus siglas en inglés) se ha presentado como una herramienta prometedora para favorecer la comunicación de personas que tienen necesidades comunicativas complejas. El enfoque de esta investigación fue presentar una introducción sobre el uso de este dispositivo y sus efectos para un niño diagnosticado con trastorno del espectro autista, en el ámbito escolar. El objetivo fue discutir sus potencialidades y demostrar, a través del uso de la matriz de comunicación, la evolución del perfil comunicativo del estudiante después de los procedimientos de intervención. El artículo presenta un extracto de una investigación doctoral que utilizó como método un diseño cuasi-experimental A-B.
