Situa-se teoricamente no campo dos estudos étnico-raciais, problematizando questões relativas ao currículo, à colonialidade e ao ideal de branqueamento. A pesquisa de campo foi realizada em uma creche com crianças de três anos, por meio da observação participante. A análise qualitativa mostrou que meninas brancas são forjadas entre elogios e afetos, e isso as faz pensar que são merecedoras de toda atenção; elas aprendem que são importantes. Já com as meninas negras na creche, acontece o contrário: quanto mais são desprezadas ou tratadas com indiferença, mais se retraem, se calam e se isolam; ainda, quanto mais escuro o tom da pele, maior a indiferença por parte da escola. Estas meninas aprendem que não são importantes ou que são menos importantes que as meninas brancas. Conclui-se que o ideal de branqueamento e a colonialidade pautam as relações entre as crianças e delas com os adultos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper aims to analyze the relationships among three-year-old children and between them and adults in the context of a daycare center, by identifying the possible presence of both the ideal of whitening and coloniality. Theoretically situated in the field of ethnic-racial studies, it problematizes issues related to the curriculum, coloniality and the ideal of whitening. Field research was carried out in a daycare center with three-year-old children, through participant observation. Qualitative analysis showed that white girls are forged with praise and affection, and this makes them think they are worthy of attention; they learn that they are important. With black girls in the same daycare, the opposite happens: the more they are despised or treated with indifference, the more they withdraw, shut up and isolate themselves; moreover, the darker their skin tone, the greater the indifference shown by the school. These girls learn that they are not important or that they are less important than white girls. It is concluded that the ideal of whitening and coloniality have guided the relationships among children, as well as between them and adults.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El artículo tiene como objetivo analizar las relaciones entre niños de tres años y entre éstos y los adultos en el contexto de una guardería, identificando la posible presencia del ideal de blanqueamiento y la colonialidad. Se sitúa teóricamente en el campo de los estudios étnico-raciales, problematizando cuestiones relacionadas con el plan de estudio, la colonialidad y el ideal de blanqueamiento. La investigación de campo se realizó en una guardería con niños de tres años, mediante la observación participante. El análisis cualitativo demostró que las niñas blancas se forjan entre elogios y afecto, y esto las hace pensar que merecen toda la atención; ellas aprenden que son importantes. Ya con las niñas negras sucede lo contrario: cuanto más se las desprecia o se las trata con indiferencia, más se retraen, se callan y se aíslan; además, cuanto más oscuro es el tono de piel, mayor es la indiferencia por parte de la escuela. Estas niñas aprenden que no son importantes o que son menos importantes que las niñas blancas. Se concluye que el ideal de blanqueamiento y la colonialidad guían las relaciones entre los niños y entre éstos y los adultos.]]></p></abstract>
