Buscamos, ainda, compreender a maneira pela qual alguns iluministas contribuíram para solidificar o processo de invisibilidade do continente africano e dos povos africanos. Discutimos a ideologia da democracia racial brasileira e a maneira como essa narrativa legitimou a marginalização do afro-brasileiro. Para subsidiar esse estudo, realizamos pesquisa bibliográfica, acionando pensadores/as que versam sobre a temática, a saber: Munanga (2000; 2008), Silva (2007), Hernandes (2008), Hall (2006), Guimarães (2001; 2004), Azevedo (1996), Freyre (2005), Fernandes (2008), Ki-Zerbo (2010), dentre outros. Os resultados apontam para a maneira pela qual o racismo foi utilizado como base ideológica da dominação, tanto no colonialismo, quanto no neocolonialismo. No Brasil, essa narrativa, construída a partir da marginalização dos afro-brasileiros, legitimou e inviabilizou a inserção do negro na sociedade brasileira, sobretudo após a abolição, que consideramos malsucedida. Nesse sentido, o racismo operacionalizado no Brasil, de maneira escamoteada, estabeleceu um conjunto de estratégias que foram capazes de promover uma inversão no tocante à promoção da imagem do país como uma democracia racial.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article aims to analyze the trajectory of studies on black people, through a historical analysis of the colonization process, especially in the elaboration of stereotypes that were used to justify the dehumanizing process of enslavement anchored in Racial Theories and scientific racism. We also seek to understand the way in which some Enlightenment artists contributed to solidify the process of invisibility of the African continent and the African peoples. We discuss the ideology of Brazilian racial democracy and the way in which this narrative legitimized the marginalization of Afro-Brazilians. To support this study, we conducted a bibliographic research, activating thinkers who deal with the theme, namely: Munanga (2000; 2008), Silva (2007), Hernandes (2008), Hall (2006), Guimarães (2001; 2004), Azevedo (1996), Freyre (2005), Fernandes (2008), Ki-Zerbo (2010), among others. The results point to the way in which racism was used as an ideological basis of domination, both in colonialism and neocolonialism. In Brazil, this narrative, built on the marginalization of Afro-Brazilians, legitimized and made unfeasible the insertion of blacks in Brazilian society, especially after abolition, which we consider unsuccessful. In this sense, the racism operationalized in Brazil, in a concealed way, established a set of strategies that were able to promote an inversion with regard to the promotion of the country's image as a racial democracy.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la trayectoria de los estudios sobre las personas negras, a través de un análisis histórico del proceso de colonización, especialmente en la elaboración de estereotipos que fueron utilizados para justificar el proceso deshumanizador de la esclavitud anclado en las Teorías Raciales y el racismo científico. También buscamos comprender la forma en que algunos artistas de la Ilustración contribuyeron a solidificar el proceso de invisibilización del continente africano y de los pueblos africanos. Discutimos la ideología de la democracia racial brasileña y la forma en que esta narrativa legitimó la marginación de los afrobrasileños. Para apoyar este estudio, realizamos una investigación bibliográfica, activando pensadores que abordan el tema, a saber: Munanga (2000; 2008), Silva (2007), Hernandes (2008), Hall (2006), Guimarães (2001; 2004), Azevedo (1996), Freyre (2005), Fernandes (2008), Ki-Zerbo (2010), entre otros. Los resultados apuntan a la forma en que el racismo fue utilizado como base ideológica de dominación, tanto en el colonialismo como en el neocolonialismo. En Brasil, esta narrativa, construida sobre la marginación de los afrobrasileños, legitimó e hizo inviable la inserción de los negros en la sociedad brasileña, especialmente después de la abolición, que consideramos infructuosa. En este sentido, el racismo operacionalizado en Brasil, de forma encubierta, estableció un conjunto de estrategias que fueron capaces de promover una inversión en lo que respecta a la promoción de la imagen del país como una democracia racial.]]></p></abstract>
