A reflexão tem como fonte de inspiração a obra do pensador francês Edgar Morin com o objetivo de compreender quais deveriam ser as grandes finalidades do processo educacional. O estudo é de cunho bibliográfico tendo como horizonte os princípios da complexidade. A pesquisa permite concluir que, em seus primeiros escritos, Morin aponta para a necessidade de instituir uma política de civilização que contemple o contexto planetário da humanidade. Com o decorrer do tempo e, sobretudo, nos escritos mais recentes, Morin ressignifica o pensamento de Montaigne e de Rousseau: com inspiração em Montaigne indica que cabe à escola formar o aluno com uma cabeça benfeita e com base em Rousseau retoma a ideia de que é função da escola ensinar a viver.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Our intention, in this text, is to contribute with the debate about the reason of being of the school, as well as the sense and purpose of education. The reflection has French thinker Edgar Morin&#8217;s works as source of inspiration, with the objective of understanding which the great purposes of the educational process should be. The study is bibliographic, having as horizon the complexity principles. The research allows to conclude that, in his early writings, Morin points out to the need of instituting a policy of civilization that contemplates the planetary context of the humanity. With the elapse of time and, above all, in the most recent writings, Morin reframes Montaigne&#8217;s and Rousseau&#8217;s thought: with inspiration in Montaigne indicates that it is up to the school to graduate the student with a well-made head and based in Rousseau resumes the idea that the school has the role of teaching to live.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Tenemos como propósito, en este texto, contribuir con el debate acerca de la razón de ser de la escuela, así como del sentido y de las finalidades de la educación. La reflexión tiene como fuente de inspiración la obra del pensador francés Edgar Morin con el objetivo de comprender cuáles deberían ser las grandes finalidades del proceso educacional. El estudio es bibliográfico, teniendo como horizonte los principios de la complejidad. La investigación permite concluir que, en sus primeros escritos, Morin señala la necesidad de instituir una política de civilización que contemple el contexto planetario de la humanidad. Con el paso del tiempo y, sobre todo, en los escritos más recientes, Morin resignifica el pensamiento de Montaigne y de Rousseau: con inspiración en Montaigne indica que cabe a la escuela graduar el alumno con una cabeza bien hecha y con base en Rousseau retoma la idea de que es función de la escuela enseñar a vivir.]]></p></abstract>
