Esta é uma instituição de ensino pública e gratuita, localizada em Santa Catarina, cujos cursos Lato Sensu em Educação foram planejados para atender às demandas dos profissionais da Educação Básica municipal. Realizou-se uma pesquisa quali-quantitativa, por meio de questionários de acesso on-line aplicados aos/às egressos/as desta especialização profissional. A análise das informações revelou que os cursos supriram as expectativas de formação continuada da maioria dos/as respondentes, abordando conhecimentos úteis e atualizados, alinhados a um compromisso ético e político de transformação social. Observou-se que esses exerceram dois níveis de influência no desenvolvimento regional: a) relacionado ao incremento do capital humano atuante na Educação Básica do município e seu entorno; b) referente à ampliação das perspectivas profissionais dos/as egresso/as. Conclui-se que a Pós-Graduação Lato Sensu é um espaço privilegiado para a construção do conhecimento, tornando-se uma instância de formação continuada. Investir no desenvolvimento regional por meio da oferta desta modalidade de ensino influi na melhoria da educação e padrão de vida das pessoas daquela região, ativando potencialidades locais e servindo de base para uma proposta includente e sustentável.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper aims to understand how the Lato Sensu Postgraduate Courses in the field of Education influence the regional development and the teaching qualification of the graduates of the Municipal Faculty of Palhoça. It is a free and public educational institution, located in the city of Palhoça, state of Santa Catarina, which designed Lato Sensu Postgraduate Courses in the field of Education to respond to the local professionals of Basic Education demands. A qualitative-quantitative field research with alumni of these courses was carried out through an online survey. The data analysis revealed that the Lato Sensu Postgraduate Courses met the expectations of continued education of the majority of the respondents, as the courses focused on useful and updated knowledge, aligned with an ethical and political commitment of social transformation. It was observed that these courses exerted two levels of influence in the local development: a) related to the increase of human capital acting in the Basic Education of the municipality and its surroundings; b) regarding the extension of the professional perspectives of the alumni. In conclusion, Lato Sensu Postgraduate Courses is a privileged space for construction of knowledge, becoming a locus of continuous qualification. Consequently investing in local development through the offer of this modality influences the improvement of education and the living standard of people of that region, activating local potentialities and serving as the basis for an inclusive and sustainable proposal.]]></p></abstract>
