O principal referencial teórico adotado foi a tradição inglesa da História das Disciplinas Escolares ligada ao campo do Currículo, referenciada na obra de Ivor Goodson. A metodologia utilizada foi a análise documental de fontes do período estudado, dentre elas as existentes no Núcleo de Documentação e Memória do Colégio Pedro II (NUDOM), o texto das reformas educacionais, um relatório sobre o ensino de sociologia encaminhado à Presidência da República, e manuais didáticos elaborados por Delgado de Carvalho, primeiro catedrático efetivo da disciplina.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The article discusses the building of the Sociology curriculum during 1925 to 1941 in Colégio Pedro II, first institution of secondary education in Brazil to introduce the teaching of this subject. The main theoretical reference was the English Tradition of the History of School Subjects related to the curriculum field, referenced in the work of Ivor Goodson. The method used was documentary analysis of sources of the period, among them the existing ones at the Center of Documentation and Memory at the Colégio Pedro II (NUDOM), the text of the educational reforms, a report on the teaching of sociology sent to the Presidency, and two textbooks on sociology teaching, published by Delgado de Carvalho, first effective professor of the discipline.]]></p></abstract>
