O conceito de culturas infantis enfatiza a ideia da criança como ator social e produtora de cultura. Nesta abordagem, portanto, há formas teóricas e metodológicas de pesquisar e de se relacionar com as crianças em termos e concepções que se distanciam daqueles relacionados às teorias tradicionais de socialização (a criança vista como aprendiz passivo da cultura e a infância entendida como uma etapa natural do desenvolvimento). A atual definição do conceito antropológico de cultura, como um sistema público de signos e símbolos, é apresentada para designar a origem pública e coletiva da cultura de pares. Em conclusão, são apresentados alguns desafios teóricos e metodológicos do uso crescente do conceito de culturas infantis nas pesquisas na área da Educação e o caráter reflexivo da produção científica sobre a infância contemporânea no quadro epistêmico da &#8220;dupla hermenêutica&#8221;.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT This article, resulting from a bibliographic research, aims to present and discuss the concept of children's cultures (or peer culture), from the perspective of the Sociology of Childhood, from two of its main formulators: William Corsaro and Manuel Sarmento. The concept of children's cultures emphasizes the idea of the child as a social actor and producer of culture. In this approach, therefore, there are theoretical and methodological ways of researching and relating to children in terms and conceptions that distance themselves from those related to traditional theories of socialization (the child seen as a passive learner of culture and childhood understood as a natural stage of development). The current definition of the anthropological concept of culture, as a public system of signs and symbols, is presented to designate the public and collective origin of peer culture. In conclusion, some theoretical and methodological challenges are presented regarding the growing use of the concept of children's cultures in research in the area of Education, and the reflective character of scientific production on contemporary childhood in the epistemic framework of the "double hermeneutic".]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Este artículo, resultado de una investigación bibliográfica, tiene como objetivo presentar y discutir el concepto de culturas infantiles (o cultura de pares), desde la perspectiva de la Sociología de la Infancia, a partir de dos de sus principales formuladores: William Corsaro y Manuel Sarmento. El concepto de culturas infantiles enfatiza la idea del niño como actor social y productor de cultura. En este enfoque, por tanto, existen formas teóricas y metodológicas de investigar y relacionarse a los niños en términos y concepciones que se alejan de aquellos vinculados con las teorías tradicionales de la socialización (el niño visto como un aprendiz pasivo de la cultura y la infancia entendida como una etapa natural del desarrollo). La actual definición del concepto antropológico de cultura como un sistema público de signos y símbolos se presenta como una forma para designar el origen público y colectivo de la cultura de pares. En conclusión, se presentan algunos desafíos teóricos y metodológicos del uso creciente del concepto de culturas infantiles en investigaciones en el campo de la Educación y el carácter reflexivo de la producción científica sobre la infancia contemporánea en el marco epistémico de la &#8220;doble hermenéutica&#8221;.]]></p></abstract>
