A metodologia empregada na pesquisa foi a análise documental e entrevistas semiestruturadas a nove agentes que atuaram no período de implementação do Reuni na Universidade no período de 2007 a 2012. A categoria central de análise foi a performatividade, sendo subdividida em quatro subcategorias: processos reguladores; controle a distância; processos de avaliação; e prestação de contas. Os resultados mostram que as ações tomadas pela UFSCar visando o aumento de sua performatividade, para alcançar os indicadores, internos e externos, à política, tiveram como consequência a intensificação do processo de prestação de contas pela Universidade, reforçando a antiga rigidez e o controle provenientes do modelo burocrático pela criação de um mundo paralelo de prestação de contas frente aos resultados de performatividade exigidos do setor.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to analyze the relationship between New Public Management and bureaucracy in the Support Program for Restructuring and Expansion Plans of Federal Universities (Reuni), with reference to the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The methodology used in the research was document analysis and semi-structured interviews with nine agents who worked during the implementation period of Reuni at the University from 2007 to 2012. The central category of analysis was performativity, being subdivided into four subcategories: regulatory processes; remote control; evaluation processes; and accountability. The results show that the actions taken by UFSCar aiming to increase its performance, to reach the indicators, internal and external, to the policy, resulted in the intensification of the accountability process by the University, reinforcing the old rigidity and control arising from of the bureaucratic model by creating a parallel world of accountability in the face of the performativity results required of the sector.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la relación entre la Nueva Gestión Pública y la burocracia en el Programa de Apoyo a los Planes de Reestructuración y Expansión de las Universidades Federales (Reuni), conreferencia a la Universidad Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar). La metodología utilizada en la investigación fue el análisis de documentos y entrevistas semiestructuradas com nueve agentes que trabajaron durante el período de implementación de Reuni en la Universidad de 2007 a 2012. La categoría central de análisis fue la performatividad, subdividiéndose en cuatro subcategorías: procesos normativos; control remoto; procesos de evaluación; y rendición de cuentas. Los resultados muestran que las acciones emprendidas por la UFSCar con el objetivo de aumentar su desempeño, para alcanzar los indicadores, internos y externos, a la política, resultaron en la intensificación del proceso de rendición de cuentas por parte de la Universidad, reforzando la antigua rigidez y control provenientes de la modelo burocrático creandoun mundo paralelo de rendición de cuentas frente a los resultados de performatividad exigidos al sector.]]></p></abstract>
