Para a localização das dissertações e teses, consultou-se o Banco de Teses da CAPES, tomando por referência o descritor ensino fundamental de nove anos. Recorre-se à análise de conteúdo para explorar o material, a qual permitiu a identificação de um conjunto de eixos temáticos, servindo como condutores para a construção da análise que se apresenta. Dentre as diversas questões observadas, salienta-se a carência de pesquisas que sinalizem para práticas bem sucedidas no processo de implantação do Ensino Fundamental de nove anos, o que poderia servir como referência e/ou ponto de partida para a proposição de propostas que contribuam para qualificar o Ensino Fundamental.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This article represents the key results of a preliminary review of dissertations and theses written from 2006 to 2009, focusing on the nine-year Elementary Education. To locate the dissertations and theses, the CAPES Database was consulted, using the search phrase “ensino fundamental de nove anos” (Nine-Year Elementary Education). The material was explored using content analysis, which led to the identification of a group of core themes that serve as conductors for the analysis presented here. The various issues covered by the works investigated include a lack of research that signals successful practices in the implementation of the nine-year Elementary Education, which could serve as a reference and/or starting point for the proposals that will contribute to improving Elementary Education.]]></p></abstract>
