Tendo por base a abordagem qualitativa, os procedimentos utilizados para o estudo compreendem a pesquisa bibliogr&#225;fica e documental, com o objetivo de adentrar os mecanismos de poder, presentes na matem&#225;tica, como processo educacional institucionalizado. Nesse contexto, s&#227;o exploradas constru&#231;&#245;es hist&#243;ricas da matem&#225;tica escolar, considerando-se os instrumentos que classificam e adjetivam os sujeitos pautados pelo dom&#237;nio do conhecimento matem&#225;tico e legitimados pela classe hegem&#244;nica. Os resultados indicam que a educa&#231;&#227;o matem&#225;tica institucionalizada nas escolas n&#227;o se desvincula da sociedade, pelo contr&#225;rio, a ela responde, reafirmando a necessidade de questionar ideologias e analisar o papel da educa&#231;&#227;o matem&#225;tica como constru&#231;&#227;o social, considerando-se os efeitos de controle e poder que perpassam os processos educacionais.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This article is the result of a theoretical study that proposes to discuss mathematics education as a social and cultural process built in the historicity of the subjects. Based on a qualitative approach, the procedures used for the study include the bibliographic and document research, with the aim of investigating the power mechanisms present in mathematics, as an institutionalized educational process. In this context, historical constructions of mathematics in schools are explored, considering the instruments that classify and modify the subjects, guided by the mastery of mathematical knowledge and legitimized by the hegemonic class. The results indicate that institutionalized mathematics education in schools is not disconnected from society; on the contrary, it responds to it, reaffirming the need to question ideologies and analyze the role of mathematics education as a social construction, considering the effects of control and power that permeate the educational process.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[El presente art&#237;culo es el resultado de una investigaci&#243;n te&#243;rica que busca entender la educaci&#243;n matem&#225;tica como un proceso sociocultural, teniendo en cuenta la historicidad de los sujetos. Basado en el enfoque cualitativo, los procedimientos utilizados para el estudio incluyen la investigaci&#243;n bibliogr&#225;fica y documental, con el objetivo de entrar en los mecanismos de poder presentes en las matem&#225;ticas como proceso educativo institucionalizado. En este contexto, se exploran las construcciones hist&#243;ricas de las matem&#225;ticas de la escuela, teniendo en cuenta los instrumentos que califican y clasifican a los sujetos, guiados por el dominio del conocimiento matem&#225;tico y legitimados por la clase hegem&#243;nica. Los resultados indican que la educaci&#243;n matem&#225;tica institucionalizada en las escuelas no se desvincula de la sociedad sino que, por el contrario, responde a ella, lo que reafirma la necesidad de cuestionar las ideolog&#237;as y analizar el papel de la educaci&#243;n matem&#225;tica como una construcci&#243;n social, teniendo en cuenta los efectos de control y poder que subyacen a los procesos educativos.]]></p></abstract>
