Com ancoragem em referencial te&#243;rico-metodol&#243;gico bakhtiniano e afirmando as premissas da gest&#227;o democr&#225;tica do ensino, desenvolve-se uma interlocu&#231;&#227;o com a legisla&#231;&#227;o brasileira e com estudos sobre gest&#227;o educacional, buscando compreender as formas de provimento ao cargo e aos processos de forma&#231;&#227;o continuada dos gestores das institui&#231;&#245;es de EI. Os dados da pesquisa indicam que a maioria dos munic&#237;pios pesquisados integra o profissional gestor na composi&#231;&#227;o do quadro funcional das institui&#231;&#245;es de EI, ainda que sua designa&#231;&#227;o possa n&#227;o abarcar a totalidade das institui&#231;&#245;es das redes municipais. Com essa presen&#231;a profissional marcante no quadro das institui&#231;&#245;es, atenta-se para a incipi&#234;ncia dos processos participativos no que se refere &#224;s formas de nomea&#231;&#227;o desse profissional, indicando desafios persistentes com vistas &#224; gest&#227;o democr&#225;tica nas institui&#231;&#245;es de EI.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This article discusses the integration of managers in the professional staffs of early childhood schools. The municipal managers of early childhood schools of 78 municipalities in the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil, responded to a questionnaire, based on which data were mapped. Through Bakhtin's theoretical framework, affirming the premises of democratic management of education, this study develops a discussion with the Brazilian legislation and studies on educational management, seeking to understand how managerial posts are filled, and the process of professional development of managers in early childhood schools. The survey data indicate that in most of the municipalities surveyed, the professional manager is a part of the staff of the early childhood school, though not all of the schools in the municipal network have this job title. Due to the outstanding professional presence on the staff of these schools, this paper focuses on the paucity of the joint processes that result in the forms of appointment of this professional. This indicates an ongoing challenge to generate democratic management in early childhood schools.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: En este art&#237;culo se discute la inserci&#243;n de gestores en los cuadros profesionales de las Instituciones de Educaci&#243;n Infantil (EI) a partir de los datos de una investigaci&#243;n de mapeamiento que emprendi&#243; procedimientos de aplicaci&#243;n de un cuestionario a los gestores municipales de la EI de las 78 ciudades del estado de Esp&#237;rito Santo (ES), Brasil. Con anclaje en referencias te&#243;rico metodol&#243;gicas bajtinianas y afirmando las premisas de gesti&#243;n democr&#225;tica de ense&#241;anza, se desarrolla una interlocuci&#243;n con la legislaci&#243;n brasile&#241;a y con los estudios acerca de la gesti&#243;n educacional, buscando comprender las formas de proveimiento al cargo y los procesos de formaci&#243;n continua de los gestores de las instituciones de EI. Los datos de la investigaci&#243;n indican que la mayor&#237;a de las ciudades investigadas integra al profesional gestor en la composici&#243;n del cuadro funcional de las instituciones de EI, aunque su designaci&#243;n pueda no abarcar la totalidad de las instituciones de las redes municipales. Con esa presencia profesional distintiva en el cuadro de las instituciones se apunta hacia el inicio de los procesos participativos en lo que se refiere a las formas de nombramiento de ese profesional, indicando desaf&#237;os persistentes dirigidos a la gesti&#243;n democr&#225;tica en las instituciones de EI.]]></p></abstract>
