O objetivo foi compreender as representações sobre o docente e o seu trabalho nesses cursos. A abordagem foi qualitativa. Foram utilizados questionários e entrevistas. Revelou que os estudantes têm como referência professores com forte inserção na prática profissional e valorizam domínio de conhecimento, metodologias, atitudes e posturas pessoais dos professores, bem como a docência que corresponde à satisfação de seus interesses imediatos. A diferença entre os cursos tem relação com a dissimilitude entre o objeto de estudo e atividades de formação acadêmica e profissional a que cada um se destina.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The article presents the research results about the courses that graduate liberal professionals in Law, Civil Engineering and Medicine. The objective was to understand the representations of the teachers and their teaching work in these courses. The approach was qualitative. Questionnaires and interviews were used. It revealed that the students take as model the teachers with a strong insertion in the professional practice. They value knowledge mastership, methodologies, and attitudes and personal points of view of the teachers, as well as the way of teaching that meets their immediate interests. The difference among the courses is related to the dissimilarity between the object of study and the academic and professional activities that each one has.]]></p></abstract>
