Para tanto, foi acompanhada uma turma com 25 crian&#231;as do 3&#186; ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola da rede municipal de S&#227;o Paulo, por meio de observa&#231;&#245;es e entrevistas. Notou-se que as garotas tendiam a apresentar aspira&#231;&#245;es profissionais mais bem definidas e voltadas para carreiras que exigiam maior qualifica&#231;&#227;o profissional e um prolongamento da escolariza&#231;&#227;o. Dessa forma, concluiu-se que, se por um lado essas expectativas contrastavam com as in&#250;meras restri&#231;&#245;es vividas pelas meninas em seu cotidiano, por outro, repercutiam positivamente no empenho delas em sua vida escolar.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This article aims to understand how gender differences related to future perspectives among girls and boys can be related to the academic success of female students. Therefore, the authors followed a group of 25 children enrolled in the third grade of an elementary public school in the city of S&#227;o Paulo through observations and interviews. It was noted that the girls tended to present more clearly defined professional aspirations, related to careers that require higher professional qualification and a long-term schooling process. Hence, it was concluded that, on the one hand, if these expectations contrasted with a number of restrictions experienced by the girls in their daily lives, on the other hand, they resonated positively on the commitment of the girls to their school life.]]></p></abstract>
