Na cidade de São Paulo, destaca-se a imigração boliviana, que tem mantido seu fluxo de entrada há algumas décadas e fomentado a matrícula de estrangeiros em escolas públicas da região. Considerando a importância da presença de alunos bolivianos na rede municipal de ensino de São Paulo, o objetivo deste artigo é analisar como ocorrem as relações entre estudantes bolivianos e educadores e entre aqueles e seus pares no ambiente de uma escola pública. Foi escolhida uma escola municipal de ensino fundamental situada no bairro da Mooca, zona leste da capital paulista, a qual contava com uma quantidade considerável de crianças bolivianas no ciclo de alfabetização. A metodologia utilizada foi o estudo etnográfico com observação participante. Também foram realizadas entrevistas com educadores da escola. Os principais pontos trabalhados neste estudo foram questões relacionadas à discriminação, ao preconceito e à essencialização de identidades em um espaço em que a interculturalidade não é promovida, apesar da diversidade cultural. A análise dos dados foi feita à luz da teoria social no que se refere à diversidade cultural, interculturalidade e alteridade. Ao final, conclui-se que a instituição escolar deve construir práticas de integração de diferentes matrizes culturais.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: At the beginning of the 21st century, the question of external migration to Brazil became something to be discusses once again. In the city of São Paulo, Bolivian immigration stands out. It has maintained its numbers for a few decades and led to the enrollment of foreigners in public schools in the area.. Considering how important the presence of Bolivian students in the municipal education system of São Paulo is, the objective of this article is to analyze how the relations between these students and local educators and also between them and their peers in a public school environment occur. A municipal elementary school located in the Mooca, a neighborhood in the east of São Paulo city, was chosen for having a considerable number of Bolivian children in the literacy cycle. The methodology used was an ethnographic study with participant observation and interviews with school educators were also conducted. The main points worked in this study were related to discrimination, prejudice and the essentialization of identities in a space where interculturality is not promoted, despite the existing cultural diversity. Data was analyzed in light of social theory concerning cultural diversity, interculturality, and otherness. Ultimately, it is concluded that teaching institutions must build integration practices for different cultural backgrounds.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: A principios del siglo 21, el tema de las migraciones externas en Brasil volvió a aparecer. En la ciudad de São Paulo, se destaca la inmigración boliviana, que ha mantenido su flujo de entrada durante algunas décadas y ha fomentado la inscripción de extranjeros en las escuelas públicas de la región. Considerando la importancia de la presencia de estudiantes bolivianos en el sistema educativo municipal de São Paulo, el objetivo de este artículo es analizar cómo se producen las relaciones entre los estudiantes y educadores bolivianos y entre ellos y sus compañeros en un entorno escolar público. Fue elegida una escuela primaria municipal ubicada en el Barrio Mooca, al este de São Paulo, que contenía un número considerable de niños bolivianos en el ciclo de alfabetización. La metodología utilizada fue un estudio etnográfico con observación participante. También se realizaron entrevistas con educadores de la escuela. Los puntos principales trabajados en este estudio fueron temas relacionados con la discriminación, el prejuicio y la esencialización de identidades en un espacio donde no se promueve la interculturalidad, a pesar de la diversidad cultural existente. El análisis de los datos se realizó a la luz de la teoría social con respecto a la diversidad cultural, la interculturalidad y la alteridad. Al final, se concluye que la institución escolar debe construir prácticas de integración de diferentes matrices culturales.]]></p></abstract>
