Para isso, expõem-se os pressupostos da educação formal como direito e necessidade; em seguida, exploram-se os princípios que sustentam a biblioteca da escola; finalmente, discute-se a Lei, destacando seus limites e problemas, tendo como base o que deve ser uma biblioteca da escola. Conclui que a distância conceitual entre Educação e Biblioteconomia está na centralidade dos desafios que se colocam para que as bibliotecas existam e funcionem nas escolas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT: This paper reflects on the foundations and reasons for being of the school library, considering a model of formative education and, from this perspective, examines Law No. 14,837/2024, with an emphasis on the conception of a library that supports the implementation of the National School Library System, especially with regard to its relevance for Education. To this end, the assumptions of formal education as a right and necessity are exposed; then, the principles that support the school library are explored; Finally, the Law is discussed, highlighting its limits and problems, based on what a school library should be. It concludes that the conceptual distance between Education and Librarianship lies in the centrality of the challenges that arise for libraries to exist and function in schools.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN: Este artículo reflexiona sobre los fundamentos y razones de ser de la biblioteca escolar, considerando un modelo de educación formativa y, desde esa perspectiva, examina la Ley nº 14.837/2024, con énfasis en la concepción de una biblioteca que apoye la implementación del Sistema Nacional de Bibliotecas Escolares, especialmente en lo que respecta a su relevancia para la Educación. Para ello, se exponen los supuestos de la educación formal como derecho y necesidad; luego, se exploran los principios que sustentan la biblioteca escolar; Finalmente, se analiza la Ley, destacando sus límites y problemáticas, en función de lo que debe ser una biblioteca escolar. Se concluye que la distancia conceptual entre Educación y Biblioteconomía radica en la centralidad de los desafíos que surgen para que las bibliotecas existan y funcionen en las escuelas.]]></p></abstract>
