Para isso, foi analisada a legislação vigente, pontuando direitos conquistados pelas populações rurais e principalmente pelos campesinos por meio das suas lutas e reivindicações por meio dos movimentos sociais. Para tanto, por meio de questionário e entrevistas semi-estruturadas com assentados entre 15 e 65 anos, foram analisadas as dificuldades, os desafios, os progressos, a importância da formação continuada de professores e a necessidade de qualidade na Educação do Campo disponibilizada aos campesinos. Abordamos a importância de conhecer e estudar as leis que regulamentam a Educação do Campo, pois, a prática educacional deve ser condizente com a realidade cotidiana, buscando valorizar a identidade e a cultura do campesinato baiano. Este estudo tem por finalidade valorizar e defender a importância da Educação do Campo, assim como, difundir as informações coletadas no Assentamento Roça do Povo objetivando provocar inquietação na sociedade e em órgãos públicos, para que possam olhar com maior atenção para essa modalidade de educação, a fim de enaltecer a importância dela para os campesinos no Brasil, em especial na Bahia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article addresses preliminary aspects about the effectiveness of public policies related to Field Education in the municipal school of the Roça do Povo Settlement, located in the rural area of the city of Itabuna-BA. For this, the current legislation was analyzed, pointing out rights won by rural populations and especially by peasants through their struggles and claims through social movements. Therefore, through a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with settlers between 15 and 65 years old, we analyzed the difficulties, challenges, progress, the importance of continued education for teachers, and the need for quality in the rural education provided to the peasants. We approached the importance of knowing and studying the laws that regulate Field Education, because the educational practice must be consistent with the daily reality, seeking to value the identity and culture of the peasants of Bahia. This study aims to value and defend the importance of Field Education, as well as disseminate the information collected in the Roça do Povo Settlement in order to provoke concern in society and in public agencies, so that they can look more closely at this type of education, in order to extol its importance for peasants in Brazil, especially in Bahia.]]></p></abstract>
