Partimos de dois pressupostos: 1) Os ambientes escolares constituem-se como um locus de poder que ultrapassa a questão educacional; 2) Parte dos pesquisadores que estudaram ou estudam o medievo não se debruçaram suficientemente sobre este assunto, limitando-se apenas a fazerem breves análises gerais. Isso posto, o objetivo desse artigo será discutir as diferentes escolas e como se dava o ensino no reino visigodo, em especial nos séculos VI-VII. Lembrando que a Igreja, monopolizadora desta área, terá no campo educacional mais um elemento de reforço de sua autoridade. Deve ter em mente ainda que o período em questão do trabalho se dá logo após a consolidação desta instituição no reino visigodo com a conversão do reino ao catolicismo niceísta no III Concílio de Toledo (589).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT.  Based on two assumptions: 1) School environments constitute a locus of power that goes beyond the educational issue; 2) Some of the researchers who have studied or are studying the medieval have not sufficiently addressed this subject, but merely made brief general analyzes. That said, the purpose of this article will be to discuss the different schools and how teaching was done in the Visigoth kingdom, especially in the 6th-7th centuries. Remembering that the Church, monopolizing this area, will have in the educational field another element of reinforcement of its authority. It should also be borne in mind that the period in question follows the consolidation of this institution in the Visigoth kingdom with the conversion of the kingdom to Niceist Catholicism in the Third Council of Toledo (589).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN. Partimos de dos supuestos: 1) Los entornos escolares constituyen un locus de poder que va más allá del tema educativo; 2) Algunos de los investigadores que han estudiado o están estudiando lo medieval no han abordado suficientemente este tema, sino que simplemente hicieron breves análisis generales. Dicho esto, el propósito de este artículo será discutir las diferentes escuelas y cómo se realizó la enseñanza en el reino visigodo, especialmente en los siglos VI y VII. Recordando que la Iglesia, al monopolizar esta área, tendrá en el campo educativo otro elemento de refuerzo de su autoridad. También debe tenerse en cuenta que el período en cuestión sigue a la consolidación de esta institución en el reino visigodo con la conversión del reino al catolicismo de Nicea en el Tercer Concilio de Toledo (589).]]></p></abstract>
