Para o efeito, realizamos uma abordagem às diferentes propostas teóricas sobre a Inspeção da Educação e efetuamos uma retrospetiva histórica desse organismo em Portugal ao longo de mais de dois séculos. Os avanços e os recuos político-legais da sua criação não deixaram de evidenciar a luta pela entrada de elementos do sexo feminino no sistema inspetivo português. A reflexão sobre a evolução das suas funções e atribuições à luz das políticas educativas permitu concluir pela dimensão instrumental que lhe é conferida pela avaliação e monitorização que faz nas organizações escolares.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article aimed to raise awareness of the coordination, communication and control roles performed by the School Inspection, between monarchy period till today, perceived by the government body as ways of action that promote the revitalization and qualification of the Portuguese education system. For this purpose, we carry out an approach addressing the different theoretical proposals regarding the School Inspection System, we proceed with a historical retrospective of this body in Portugal covering more than two centuries. The political-legal advances and setbacks of its creation did not fail to evidence the struggle for the entry of female staff in the Portuguese inspectorate system. The reflection about the evolution of their functions and duties in light of educational policies allow us to conclude by the instrumental dimension conferred to it by the evaluation and monitoring it does in school organizations.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo tuvo como objetivo dar a conocer las funciones de coordinación, comunicación y control / inspección que desempeña la Inspección Educativa, en el período comprendido entre la monarquía y la actualidad, percibidos por la tutela como modos de acción que promueven la revitalización y calificación del sistema educativo portugués. Para ello, abordamos las diferentes propuestas teóricas sobre la Inspección de la Educación y realizamos una retrospectiva histórica de este organismo en Portugal durante más de dos siglos. Los avances y retrocesos político-legales de su creación no dejaron de mostrar la lucha por la entrada de elementos femeninos en el sistema inspectorial portugués. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[Résumé Cet article visait à faire connaître les fonctions de coordination, de communication et de contrôle / inspection exercées par l'Inspection de l'éducation, dans la période entre la monarchie et aujourd'hui, perçues par la tutelle comme des modes d'action qui favorisent la revitalisation et la qualification de l'enseignement de l'enseignement portugais. A cet effet, nous menons une approche des différentes propositions théoriques sur l'Inspection de l'Education et nous procédons à une rétrospective historique de cet organisme au Portugal sur plus de deux siècles. Les avancées et les revers politico-juridiques de sa création n'ont pas manqué de montrer la lutte pour l'entrée d'éléments féminins dans le système d'inspection portugais. Nous avons réfléchi à l'évolution de leurs fonctions et devoirs à la lumière des politiques éducatives. La réflexion sur l'évolution de leurs fonctions et attributions à la lumière des politiques éducatives permet de conclure par la dimension instrumentale que confère l'évaluation et le suivi qu'ils font dans les organisations scolaires.]]></p></abstract>
