<self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2236-59072023000100302&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2236-59072023000100302&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://educa.fcc.org.br/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2236-59072023000100302&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El trabajo evidencia que Chile es un caso atípico en materia de financiamiento público de la educación obligatoria, dado que desde hace más de cuatro décadas se implantó un sistema de financiamiento basado en la demanda efectiva de estudiantes a los establecimientos escolares mediante &#8220;vouchers&#8221;, que además de ser controversial y fomentar la privatización, ha tenido efectos más negativos que positivos sobre la calidad de la enseñanza para la mayoría de sus estudiantes. No obstante, hemos tardado demasiado en introducir cambios sustantivos al modelo en pro de la equidad, que han llevado a una severa y masiva crisis de calidad de la educación, que en la actualidad - a nuestro entender - requiere de transformaciones profundas en sus instrumentos para evitar el colapso del sistema. El artículo presenta el contexto sociopolítico chileno y las políticas de financiamiento, luego se expone el modelo vigente de financiamiento de la educación y sus principales componentes, finalizando con las asimetrías y desafíos del modelo de financiación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The work shows that Chile is an atypical case in terms of public financing of compulsory education, given that for more than four decades a financing system based on the effective demand of students to schools was implemented through &#8216;vouchers&#8217;, which in addition to being controversial and encouraging privatization, have added more negative than positive effects on the quality of teaching for most of its students. However, we have taken too long to introduce substantive changes to the model in favor of equity, which have led to a severe and massive crisis in the quality of education, which currently - in our opinion - requires profound transformations in its instruments to avoid the system collapsing. The article presents the Chilean sociopolitical context and financing policies, then it exposes the current education financing model and its main components, ending with asymmetries challenges of the financing model.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo O trabalho mostra que o Chile é um caso atípico em termos de financiamento público da escolaridade obrigatória, visto que durante mais de quatro décadas foi implementado um sistema de financiamento baseado na procura efetiva dos alunos às escolas através de &#8220;vouchers&#8221;, que além de ser controverso e encorajando a privatização, teve efeitos mais negativos do que positivos na qualidade do ensino para a maioria dos seus alunos. No entanto, demoramos muito para introduzir mudanças substantivas no modelo em favor da equidade, o que levou a uma crise grave e massiva na qualidade da educação, que atualmente -na nossa opinião- requer transformações profundas nos seus instrumentos para evitar o colapso do sistema. O artigo apresenta o contexto sociopolítico e as políticas de financiamento chilenas, em seguida é exposto o atual modelo de financiamento da educação e seus principais componentes, finalizando com as assimetrias e desafios do modelo de financiamento.]]></p></abstract>
