In the first part, it provides an overview of the country&#8217;s educational policies that have shaped school funding changes. The second part explains the stages and ages of compulsory education in the country and examines the growth of enrolment in each school type. The paper also explores the National Funding Formula (NFF), its factors and allocations, and presents official data on spending by school type and average per-pupil expenditure in England. The data reveals an increase in compulsory enrolment in public schools since 2015, putting pressure on education costs. There has also been a proliferation of school types in the country, leading to varying per-pupil spending across school types and a significant flow of public funding to private actors. Additionally, public spending on education decreased over most of the 2010s, representing a significant squeeze on school resources and teacher pay. Despite the current government&#8217;s efforts to restore 2010 budget levels, this goal remains unmet.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Este artigo descreve aspectos do financiamento da educação obrigatória na Inglaterra. A primeira parte traça um panorama das políticas educacionais do país que orientaram as mudanças no financiamento escolar. A segunda parte esclarece as etapas e idades da escolaridade obrigatória no país e apresenta o crescimento das matrículas em cada tipo de escola. Além disso, o trabalho explora as fórmulas de financiamento nacional (NFF) e seus fatores atuais e alocação orçamentária. Por fim, o artigo apresenta dados de gastos oficiais por tipo de escola e o gasto médio por aluno na Inglaterra. Os dados mostram que houve um aumento da matrícula obrigatória no ensino público desde 2015, pressionando os custos da educação. Além disso, houve uma pulverização de tipos de escolas no país, resultando em diferentes bolsas por aluno e um fluxo significativo de recursos públicos para atores privados. Ademais, os gastos públicos com educação diminuíram na maior parte da década de 2010, representando um aperto substancial nos recursos escolares e nos salários dos professores. Apesar das promessas do governo de cumprir os níveis orçamentários de 2010, isso ainda não foi visto.]]></p></abstract>

La primera parte esboza un panorama de las políticas educativas del país que guiaron los cambios en el financiamiento escolar. La segunda parte aclara las etapas y edades de la escolaridad obligatoria en el país y presenta el crecimiento de la matrícula en cada tipo de escuela. Además, el trabajo explora las fórmulas de financiamiento nacional (NFF) y sus factores actuales y asignación presupuestaria. Finalmente, el artículo presenta datos de gasto oficial por tipo de colegio y el gasto medio por alumno en Inglaterra. Los datos muestran que ha habido un aumento en la matrícula obligatoria en la educación pública desde 2015, ejerciendo presión sobre los costos de la educación. Además, hubo una dispersión de tipos de escuelas en el país, lo que resultó en diferentes becas por alumno y un flujo importante de recursos públicos hacia actores privados. Asimismo, el gasto público en educación disminuyó durante la mayor parte de la década de 2010, lo que representa una reducción sustancial de los recursos escolares y los salarios de los docentes.
