São focalizados autores que, no diálogo com a obra do psicólogo francês, produziram críticas à interpretação das medidas da inteligência no sistema educacional, ou enfrentaram resistências para o uso dos testes nas escolas. Destacam-se três autores: Manoel Bomfim, diretor do Pedagogium/RJ, responsável pela introdução da obra de Binet no Brasil; Maria Lacerda de Moura, líder anarquista e professora da Escola Normal de Barbacena; e Helena Antipoff, psicóloga russa que propôs o conceito de ‘inteligência civilizada’ para descrever o efeito da cultura nos resultados dos testes realizados com crianças de escolas mineiras nos anos de 1930.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The acceptance of Binet’s psychometric work in Brazilian education in the first decades of the 20th century is discussed, focusing on authors who produced a critical view of the use of IQ tests, or experienced a tension with authorities when implementing them within schools: Manoel Bomfim, director of Pedagogium RJ, one of the first scholars to introduce Binet’s work in Brazil; Maria Lacerda de Moura, a normal schoolteacher who aimed at establishing in Barbacena, MG, a psychological laboratory, facing opposition from state authorities; and Helena Antipoff, Russian psychologist who, as director of the laboratory of psychology of the Belo Horizonte Teachers’ College, built the concept of ‘civilized intelligence’ to address the influence of social conditions on children’s test performance.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[El artículo analiza la recepción de la obra de Alfred Binet y la introducción de los test de inteligencia en Brasil, en las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Se toma como foco autores que, en diálogo con la obra del psicólogo francés, produjeron críticas a la interpretación de las medidas de inteligencia en el sistema educacional, o enfrentaron resistencias para el uso de los test en las escuelas. Se destacan tres autores: Manoel Bomfim, director de Pedagogium/RJ, responsable por la introducción de la obra de Binet en Brasil, Maria Laserda de Moura, líder anarquista y profesora de la Escola Normal de Barbacena, y Helena Antipoff, psicóloga rusa que propuso el concepto de ‘inteligencia civilizada’ para describir el efecto de la cultura en los resultados de los test realizados con niños de escuelas de Minas en los años de 1930.]]></p></abstract>
