Desde 2005 o Brasil conta com legisla&#231;&#227;o federal que obriga a oferta da disciplina de L&#237;ngua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) nos cursos de forma&#231;&#227;o de professores, tamb&#233;m nos cursos ofertados na modalidade a dist&#226;ncia. Neste artigo, fazemos uma breve revis&#227;o da inser&#231;&#227;o da disciplina na modalidade EAD, considerando aspectos da qualidade e acessibilidade de sua oferta. Discutimos algumas das abordagens de ensino de l&#237;nguas, as caracter&#237;sticas da oferta de Libras em ambiente virtual, bem como os desafios tecnol&#243;gicos e suas implica&#231;&#245;es para a rela&#231;&#227;o ensino-aprendizagem. &#201; preciso garantir aos estudantes da Libras a compreens&#227;o do que &#233; a surdez e como lidar com ela em sala de aula; para este fim, &#233; fundamental que o ambiente virtual seja adequado para promover ensino de qualidade, principalmente quanto &#224;s imagens e atividades postadas e &#224; oferta de carga hor&#225;ria apropriada, para n&#227;o abordar o tema com superficialidade. O ensino da Libras a dist&#226;ncia exige o uso de muitos recursos, que s&#227;o vi&#225;veis nos dias atuais, mas requerem adapta&#231;&#245;es por parte de toda a equipe t&#233;cnica envolvida, de forma que todos atuem primando pela qualidade na rela&#231;&#227;o ensino-aprendizagem.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The field of Distance Education (DE) is growing, as well as the offer of teacher training courses in higher education. Since 2005, Brazil&#8217;s federal legislation requires that the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) be taught in teacher training courses, whether face to face or in distance education. In this paper, we briefly review the insertion of this subject in distance education, considering aspects of quality and accessibility. We discuss some of the approaches to language teaching, LIBRAS&#8217; characteristics in the virtual environment, as well as the technological challenges and their implications for the teaching-learning process. It is necessary to ensure that LIBRAS students understand what deafness is and know how to deal with it in the classroom. To this end, it is essential that the virtual environment be suitable to promote quality education, especially regarding the posted images and activities and the provision of appropriate workload, in order not to approach the subject with superficiality. The teaching of LIBRAS in distance education demands a number of resources, which are viable nowadays. However, it requires adaptations by the technical staff involved so that everyone can perform their activities with a focus towards quality in the teaching-learning process.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El &#225;rea de la Educaci&#243;n a Distancia (EAD) es tan creciente como el ofrecimiento de cursos para la formaci&#243;n de profesores en el &#225;mbito de la ense&#241;anza superior. Desde 2005, el Brasil posee una legislaci&#243;n que obliga el ofrecimiento de la asignatura de la Lengua Brasile&#241;a de Se&#241;ales (LIBRAS) en los cursos de formaci&#243;n de profesores, y tambi&#233;n en los cursos a distancia. En este art&#237;culo hicimos una revisi&#243;n a respeto de la inserci&#243;n de la asignatura en la modalidad EAD, considerando aspectos de la calidad y la accesibilidad de esta oferta. Discutimos algunos de los abordajes de la ense&#241;anza de lenguas, las caracter&#237;sticas de la oferta de la asignatura Libras en ambiente virtual, as&#237; como los desaf&#237;os tecnol&#243;gicos y sus implicaciones en la relaci&#243;n ense&#241;anza-aprendizaje. Se necesita garantizar a los estudiantes la comprensi&#243;n de lo que es sordera y de c&#243;mo manejarla en la aula. Es fundamental que el ambiente virtual sea adecuado a la promoci&#243;n de la ense&#241;anza de calidad, principalmente con relaci&#243;n a las im&#225;genes y actividades presentadas y a la oferta de carga de horas apropiadas para que no se aborde el tema de forma superficial. La ense&#241;anza de Libras a distancia requiere muchos recursos que son viables, pero requieren adaptaciones por parte del grupo t&#233;cnico involucrado, de modo que todos act&#250;en en b&#250;squeda de la calidad en la relaci&#243;n ense&#241;anza-aprendizaje.]]></p></abstract>
