Participaram do estudo 41 professores da rede pública do Município do Rio de Janeiro. Adotou-se, como referencial teórico, a teoria das representações sociais. Os dados foram coletados por meio de um teste de livre evocação de palavras com hierarquização e justificativa; observação; entrevistas e grupos focais. Os resultados indicaram que os professores parecem objetivar a representação de formação continuada na ideia de troca de saberes entre docentes e a ancoram na prática docente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This research was aimed at investigating the social representation of continuing formation constructed by teachers who worked in public pre-schools of Rio de Janeiro that offered this formation in their own school. &e social representations theory was the main theoretical framework and data was collected by a test of free evocation of words with hierarchy and justifications, observations, interviews and focal groups. Results indicated that the teachers seem to objectify the representation of continuing formation in exchange of knowledge and anchor it in the teaching practices.]]></p></abstract>
