Foram 321 participantes, vinculados a uma universidade pública. Perguntamos o que é cidadania, preferência política/partidária, vínculo com a universidade e local de moradia. Emergiram três conjuntos temáticos: sujeito-cidadão, ação-cidadã e ação-cidadã-visando-metas. O sujeito-cidadão foi menos representado como entidade-civil-organizada (sindicato/movimento social), instituição partidária ou indivíduo. As formas de ação-cidadã mais frequentemente indicadas foram participar, cumprir deveres/controlar, interação indivíduo e sociedade. Os temas sobre ação-cidadã-visando-metas mais observados foram direitos e deveres, direito à sociedade igualitária, liberdade/reconhecimento social, direito à educação, direito à saúde. Os resultados foram discutidos em termos sócio- históricos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[We observed social representations of citizenship focusing on its role in education. The participants were 321 people linked to one public university. We asked what it is citizenship like, political/party preference, type of link with the university and place of dwelling. Three sets of themes emerged: subject-citizen, action-of-the- citizen, and goal-oriented-citizen’s action. The subject-citizen was less represented as a civil and organized entity (trade union/social movement), party institution or individual. The more frequently mentioned actions-of-the-citizen were to participate, to fulfill duties/to control, interaction between individual and society. The more observed themes about goal-oriented-citizen’s-action were rights and duties, right to an egalitarian society, freedom/ social recognition, right to education, right to health. The results were discussed drawing upon a socio- historical perspective.]]></p></abstract>
