O artigo descreve o funcionamento dos Conselhos de Classe e quais s&#227;o os modos de julgamento dos professores e o que &#233; valorizado no ju&#237;zo professoral. Utilizamos a observa&#231;&#227;o participante em Conselhos de Classe de escolas p&#250;blicas cariocas, duas de Ensino Fundamental e uma de Ensino M&#233;dio. A descri&#231;&#227;o e a an&#225;lise etnogr&#225;fica revelam uma estrutura de julgamento mais moral e, portanto, mais social do que escolar. A reprova&#231;&#227;o &#233; o modo leg&#237;timo de exclus&#227;o dos alunos indesej&#225;veis do ponto de vista docente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[In every school, there are the Class Council meetings, collective rituals in which teachers assess, judge and categorize their students. This article aims to describe how do the Class Councils work and how do teachers judge the students. We use the participant observation in Class Councils in three public schools in Rio de Janeiro city: two elementary schools and one high school. Our description and ethno graphic analysis reveals that the judgments are more moral and, thus more social than academic. From the viewpoint of the teachers, the student failure is the just academic mode of excluding undesirable students.]]></p></abstract>
