Entretanto constitui um campo complexo de debate entre m&#250;ltiplas perspectivas que n&#227;o podem ser reduzidas a um esquema universal. Nesse contexto, as lutas por justi&#231;a social e por constru&#231;&#227;o de uma sociedade plural, democr&#225;tica, requerem a compreens&#227;o dos fundamentos epistemol&#243;gicos da sociedade moderno-colonial, bem como a problematiza&#231;&#227;o dos processos de subalterniza&#231;&#227;o e racializa&#231;&#227;o inerentes &#224; constitui&#231;&#227;o do sistema-mundo atual. Estudos recentes, referenciados neste artigo, problematizam o modelo pol&#237;tico de Estado-Na&#231;&#227;o e estudam suas implica&#231;&#245;es na vida e nas pol&#237;ticas dos povos ind&#237;genas na Am&#233;rica Latina, considerando que o reconhecimento dos povos origin&#225;rios como sujeitos de sua hist&#243;ria implica rever criticamente o imagin&#225;rio produzido no processo colonizat&#243;rio sustentado pelas culturas hegem&#244;nicas globalizadas. A desconstru&#231;&#227;o da matriz colonial do poder implica desarmar o dispositivo de &#8220;ra&#231;a&#8221;, que vem sendo historicamente acionado para a distribui&#231;&#227;o, domina&#231;&#227;o e explora&#231;&#227;o da popula&#231;&#227;o mundial no contexto capitalista-global do trabalho. E, do ponto de vista do saber, torna-se necess&#225;ria uma ressignifica&#231;&#227;o epistemol&#243;gica do conhecimento, que desconstrua o pressuposto moderno colonial da &#8220;universalidade&#8221; das &#8220;ci&#234;ncias&#8221; e considere as complexidades e as ambival&#234;ncias produzidas no encontro entre os diferentes saberes e culturas. ]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The concept of interculturalism has been important for the educational policies. However, it is a complex field of debate among multiple perspectives that cannot be reduced to a universal scheme. In this context, the struggles for social justice and and building a pluralistic and democratic society requires an understanding of the epistemological foundations of modern-colonial society, as well as the questioning of the processes of racialization and subordination inherent to the current world system. Recent studies, referenced in this article, problematize the Nation-State political model and study its implications in life and politics of indigenous peoples in Latin America. The recognition of indigenous peoples as subjects of their stories implies critically review the imagery produced the colonization process supported by globalized hegemonic cultures. The deconstruction of the colonial matrix of power implies disarm the device of &#8220;race &#8220;, which has been historically triggered for distribution, domination and exploitation of the world&#8217;s population in the capitalist global context. And from the standpoint of knowledge, it is necessary an epistemological reframing of knowledge that deconstructs the modern colonial assumption of &#8220;universality&#8221; of &#8220;science&#8221; and consider the complexities and ambivalences produced in the encounter between different cultures and knowledges. ]]></p></abstract>
