Inserido na discussão sobre a relação entre avós e netos, este artigo tem como objetivo discutir o papel dos avós cuidadores dos netos no processo de escolarização das crianças. A investigação foi realizada na cidade de Viçosa, MG, e a abordagem metodológica escolhida foi a de cunho qualitativo. A pesquisa empírica se baseou em entrevistas reflexivas com quatro avós de camadas populares, que, por diversas circunstâncias, tornaram-se as principais responsáveis por seus netos. Os resultados demonstraram que a relação entre avós e netos é permeada de afeto, cuidado e cumplicidade, porém também há preocupações, cansaço, tensões e desapontamentos, principalmente em relação aos filhos, que, em muitos casos, afastaram-se das crianças desde muito pequenas. Concluiu-se que as avós entrevistadas mantêm uma relação estreita com as escolas dos netos e contam com a solidariedade de amigos e familiares para as práticas educativas no processo de escolarização deles.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Today, grandparents have played an important role in the family, especially concerning the care of grandchildren. In order to reveal a little bit of this universe, this article aims to discuss the role of grandparents who take care of grandchildren in the children&#8217;s schooling process. The investigation occurred in the city of Viçosa (Minas Gerais - Brazil), and we choose the qualitative methodological approach. The empirical research was based on conducting reflective interviews with four grandparents from popular backgrounds, who, due to many different circumstances, became the main ones responsible for their grandchildren. The results showed that the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is permeated by affection, care, and complicity; however, there are also concerns, tiredness, tensions, and disappointments, especially concerning their children, who, in many cases, moved away from children from an early age. We concluded that the interviewed grandmothers maintain a close relationship with their grandchildren&#8217;s schools and, for educative practices in their schooling process, they count on friends and family solidarity.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Actualmente, los abuelos han jugado un papel importante en la familia, especialmente con respecto al cuidado de los nietos. Para revelar un poco de este universo, este artículo tiene como objetivo discutir el papel de los abuelos que cuidan a los nietos en el proceso de escolarización de los niños. La investigación se llevó a cabo en la ciudad de Viçosa (Minas Gerais - Brasil), y el enfoque metodológico elegido fue cualitativo. La investigación empírica se basó en entrevistas reflexivas con cuatro abuelas de clases populares, que, debido a diferentes circunstancias, se convirtieron en las principales responsables por sus nietos. Los resultados mostraron que la relación entre abuelos y nietos está impregnada de afecto, cuidado y complicidad, sin embargo, también hay preocupaciones, cansancio, tensiones y decepciones, especialmente con los hijos, que, en muchos casos, se han alejado de los niños desde que eran muy pequeños. Las abuelas entrevistadas también revelaron que mantienen una relación cercana con las escuelas de sus nietos y que, para las prácticas educativas en el proceso de escolarización de los niños, cuentan con la solidaridad de amigos y familiares.]]></p></abstract>
